AEW Star Set To Compete in STARDOM

AEW Star Set To Compete in STARDOM

As a long-time gamer and avid wrestling fan, I’m thrilled to see All Elite Wrestling (AEW) expanding its reach into Japan’s thriving women’s wrestling scene through its partnership with STARDOM. Having followed the careers of several talented Japanese wrestlers who have made their way to AEW, I can’t help but feel a sense of anticipation for Anna Jay’s upcoming journey to Japan.

1. Option: All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has been strengthening its connections, particularly in Japan’s women’s wrestling scene. Following STARDOM co-founder Rossy Ogawa’s departure from the company a few months ago, AEW has started collaborating with them. Notable wrestlers like Mei Seira, Maika, Mina Shirakawa, Tam Nakano, Saya Kamitani and AZM have moved to the U.S. to compete in AEW. Now, AEW is sending its own talent overseas, starting with Anna Jay who will participate in the 5STAR Grand Prix tournament from August 10th onwards.

1. Jay embarked on her wrestling career in 2019 and has remained with AEW ever since, having initially been part of their Dark and Dark Elevation roster. However, she is now seeking new opportunities within the company as she no longer appears in those roles. Prior to going solo, she worked alongside The Dark Order and the Jericho Appreciation Society. Lately, Jay has significantly improved her in-ring skills since becoming an individual performer. She last competed on AEW Dynamite in June, joining forces with Harley Cameron and Saraya against Mina Shirakawa, Toni Storm (the AEW Women’s Champion known as “Timeless”), and Mariah May.

The tournament will continue until August 31 in two distinct parts, referred to as Red and Blue. Jay is a member of the Blue Stars A Group alongside Saori Anou, Syuri, Starlight Kid, Xena, Koguma, and Miyu Amasaki. Since this is a round-robin tournament, Jay will face off against every other competitor in her group to earn points and aim for winning the block. Her anticipated debut in Japan has been hinted at for some time now, as AEW’s AZM and Saya Kamitani previously suggested signing the 26-year-old. Queen’s Quest and Oedo Tai, two of STARDOM’s longest-standing factions, have recently disbanded, potentially erasing any remaining influence of Ogawa on the company.

Several accomplished female wrestlers from around the world have passed through STARDOM during their careers, and some have personally experienced the boost that a stint in Japan can provide, as demonstrated by May’s success in AEW at present. Providing a comparable opportunity for Jay could be the catalyst she needs to become the next rising star in AEW’s women’s division.
