As a huge fan of Ronda Rousey and her incredible career in both MMA and professional wrestling, I’ve been eagerly following her latest endeavors outside the ring. It’s truly inspiring to see how she’s been balancing motherhood, writing projects, and making appearances at events like Comic-Con since her departure from WWE last year.
After saying goodbye to WWE last August, I’ve been keeping myself busy with new projects. I’ve been working hard to bring my memoirs to life on the big screen and even started writing my first graphic novel titled “Expecting The Unexpected.” During Comic-Con in San Diego, I excitedly shared some personal news – I’m expecting baby number two with my loving husband Travis Browne. Besides that joyful announcement, I also participated in a panel for the Kickstarter Campaign of “Expecting The Unexpected,” which has already been fully funded. Swinging by ComicBook’s studio, we chatted about my graphic novel and, of course, the question everyone wants to know: will I make a comeback to professional wrestling?
Will Ronda Rousey Ever Return to WWE?
After Rousey departed from WWE, her relationship with the organization took a turn for the worse. She hasn’t hesitated to bring up the ongoing sex trafficking allegations against the company, implicating former WWE CEO Vince McMahon and John Laurinaitis. In an interview with ComicBook, Rousey shared that she might reconsider a comeback to WWE following the recent leadership transition.
“With Vince McMahon out of the picture, I’m open to the idea of returning to WWE. The women have shared positive experiences under Triple H’s leadership, so I might consider it. However, I can no longer commit full-time as I am expecting another child and traveling with a young family is challenging. Therefore, my priority now is to focus on my family.”
Rousey isn’t alone in pondering a return to WWE, as CM Punk has mentioned that the current WWE environment is drastically different from before. He expressed that if things were the same a decade ago, he wouldn’t have left. For a long time, Punk was a vocal critic of the company. Moreover, women are once again taking center stage in WWE’s major events and receiving more screen time.
For five years, Rousey was part of the WWE roster, joining the team in 2018. Her debut match took place at WrestleMania 34 against Stephanie McMahon and Triple H, with Kurt Angle, resulting in a victory. She continued competing until 2019, making her comeback at the 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble. During this period, she earned multiple women’s championship titles, one of which was the Women’s Tag Team Championship that she held with Shayna Baszler. SummerSlam marked her last official wrestling match, but she stepped into the ring two more times in the following months, once in Ring of Honor, before eventually taking a sabbatical from wrestling.
