Ahoy, fellow fans of the fantastically hilarious series “What We Do in the Shadows”! As a long-time follower and devotee of this brilliant show, I must say that the news about the upcoming final season has left me with a mix of emotions. On one hand, my heart is filled with joy and excitement at the thought of another round of the absurdity, wit, and sheer fun that the series has consistently delivered. But on the other hand, the realization that this will be the last season fills me with a tinge of sadness, knowing that I’ll have to bid farewell to these unforgettable characters and their misadventures.
1. “In a recent update for fans of FX’s ‘What We Do in the Shadows,’ executive producer Paul Simms offers mixed news: while he believes that Season 6 is as strong as any other season, unfortunately, it will be the last one. Simms expressed his preference for wrapping up the series when viewers are eager for more content, rather than overstaying its welcome. He also hinted that just like previous seasons, Season 6 will maintain the same level of silliness.”
At San Diego Comic-Con, during an exciting chat with ComicBook, I was asked about the possibility of our series carrying on past its final season. With a smile, I shared that no, it’s time to wrap things up. It’s better to end a bit earlier than lingering, in my opinion. As I’m currently editing the season we’ve just filmed, I can confidently say it’s one of my favorites. Rather than making this final season exceptionally grandiose, we’re choosing to maintain the humor and fun that has always defined our show. The storyline will reach a satisfying conclusion, but you won’t need to have watched every episode up until now to enjoy it. You could jump in at any point and still find it entertaining!
As a passionate fan, I’d say the TV show is an expansion on the 2014 comedy “What We Do in the Shadows.” The FX series not only explores the idea of vampires trying to blend into Staten Island life in a comedic yet unpredictable way, but it also continues the story within the same universe as the film. While the show is known for its over-the-top humor, it also delves deeper into emotional themes such as societal pressures, complex relationships, and various aspects of gender and sexual identities.
Despite the producer’s playful hints of foolishness, actor Harvey Guillén has previously assured us that there will be rewarding revelations concerning his character Guillermo.
1. In the current season, we picked up from where we left off with Guillermo and his group in Season 5. As you might recall, he transformed into a vampire after five years on the show, but despite being a familiar for 15 years, it didn’t turn out as planned. The actor discussed this with ComicBook earlier this year. If you haven’t seen the Season 5 finale yet, consider this a spoiler alert. Things didn’t work out for him in the end, but we have some exciting developments planned for this season that should surprise viewers – something like, “Oh, wow, that’s really cool!” I think fans are going to be pleasantly surprised when they see what happens.
The final season of What We Do in the Shadows premieres on FX on October 21st.
