As a longtime fan of Neighbours and a theatre enthusiast who has had the privilege of attending numerous productions and witnessing the artistry of actors like Janet Andrewartha, I am deeply saddened by the news of her passing. The character of Lyn Scully was not just a staple of Ramsay Street, but also a beloved figure in the world of Australian soap operas, and her portrayal by Andrewartha was nothing short of exceptional.
After the death of Janet Andrewartha, who played Lyn Scully on Neighbours, the show’s executive producer, Jason Herbison, announced that they will pay tribute to her character at a later point in time.
In an interview with 10 News First in Australia, Stefan Dennis (who plays Paul Robinson) and Herbison were queried about the future of the Neighbors character, Lyn.
Herbison expressed: “We haven’t given much thought to that topic just yet. I had plans to reintegrate Lyn into the program shortly, so her absence is disappointing.”
“I haven’t given it much thought yet. But let me tell you, Lyn is quite the renowned figure in Ramsay Street circles.”
Stefan Dennis then added: “I reckon we’ll find some way of [memorialising] it.”
Herbison concurred, expressing: “We’ll deal with it eventually. It’s a tremendous shame for the Neighbors universe and for each one of us involved in its production.”

From 1999 to 2006, and later from 2008 to 2011, Andrewartha acted as the character Lyn Scully on Neighbours. She returned for brief visits in 2016, 2017, and 2019.
On the 26th of July, when she was 72 years old, she passed away in Melbourne. Her previous Neighbours co-stars didn’t hesitate to honor her life and accomplishments with heartfelt tributes.
Susan Kennedy shared these words about Jackie Woodburne: “Janet was not only an exceptional actress of her time, but she was also an extraordinary woman in every sense.”
“For more than four decades, she was an enthusiastic, politically engaged, inquisitive, charmingly quirky, giving, and amusing companion to me. I’ll deeply feel her absence each day.”
At the same time, Dennis expressed his sadness on Instagram by writing: “I’m deeply saddened to lose the talented and wonderful Janet. As Jackie put it, she was an extraordinary actress who was a joy to collaborate with and be around. We will all greatly miss her.”
