As a sports journalist with a background in reporting on Olympic Games, I have had the privilege of witnessing and documenting historic moments in athletics. However, none have touched me as deeply as the stories of first-time Olympians making their mark at Paris 2024.
Turns out everyone’s favorite new Superman has already found his Lois Lane.
Over these past eight years, I’ve been head-over-heels enamored with my remarkable partner, Stephen Nedoroscik – the glasses-clad pommel horse maestro who stole everyone’s hearts as part of the U.S. men’s gymnastics team at the 2024 Olympics. Tess McCracken here, and I can’t help but gush about my beloved Clark Kent glasses hero!
I couldn’t believe my eyes as I watched my beloved from a distance in Paris. The tension was palpable as Brody Malone, Frederick Richard, Asher Hong, and Paul Juda gave their all for their team. And then, it happened. My heart skipped a beat as I saw my obsession clinch the bronze medal for them. Sixteen long years since the USA had brought home a team medal, and here we were, making history. Words fail me in expressing how proud I am of you. This was an unforgettable moment that will forever stay etched in my memory.
1. Since the retired gymnast has witnessed Nedoroscik’s heroics since the start, they had a chance to meet before their freshman year at Penn State.
Four years ago, as they graduated in 2020 and celebrated on the Fourth of July, he reflected: “I had the entirety of my college journey still to look forward to at that point. Unknown to me, I’d already discovered what I most enjoyed about university life.”
Together, the pair stuck the landing throughout their college careers.
Born in Texas, gymnast McCracken who honed her skills on balance beam, uneven bars, and floor exercise under the tutelage of Simone Biles’ coaches Cecile Canqueteau-Landi and Laurent Landi, was recognized as a contender for the AAI Award, an honor bestowed upon the country’s top senior athlete.
Despite having to retire from gymnastics at the age of 26 due to the coronavirus pandemic, she posted on Facebook on March 14, 2020: “Gymnastics, I’ll cherish our time together, but for now, this is just a temporary goodbye. I’ll return to compete again soon.” However, she has since then dedicated herself to supporting her partner.
After making it onto the Olympic team for 2024, Nedoroscik, who is the 2021 World Champion and a two-time NCAA National Champion in the pommel horse event, expressed his appreciation for McCracken, whom he fondly referred to as his “beautiful cheerleader.”
On Instagram, posted on July 1st, the native of Worcester, Massachusetts, expressed, “I wouldn’t have been able to accomplish this without your help.” He added, “I cherish you.”
Indeed, McCracken, based in Florida, wouldn’t need to, as he joined the 25-year-old in Paris. There, he took off his glasses and performed flawlessly in his signature event.
A few weeks ago, she became aware of the approaching July 4th, remarking in classic Swiftie style that she had adored him for eight summers past: “Yet, dear, I long for more. Happy Anniversary, my love. What a fantastic journey we’ve been on.”
Indeed, they aren’t the sole couple rejoicing. I can guarantee, as you delve into the rich tapestry of historical events that have unfolded in the city of love – Paris – your heart will swell with emotion.
