As a seasoned survivor hailing from the foggy woods of Haddonfield, I’ve spent countless hours battling against relentless killers in Dead by Daylight. The Design a Cosmetic Contest has always piqued my interest, and this time around, I find myself brimming with anticipation.
Behaviour Interactive, the creators of “Dead by Daylight”, have declared a comeback for their Design a Cosmetic Contest! This event will feature four categories: Killer Outfit, Survivor Outfit, Badge, and Banner. The contest is now open, running until August 19th at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time. In contrast to previous years, the community will have the power to vote on a list of finalists, to be unveiled around mid-September. Voting will occur from September 19th until the 26th, with the winning designs announced by October 3rd at 10 a.m. ET. The fortunate winners not only get their design incorporated into “Dead by Daylight”, but they’ll also receive 25,000 Auric Cells, equivalent to around $200 in value.
As a dedicated fan, I’ve learned from the game’s official site that these cosmetic items are intended to be exceptionally scarce. When it comes to the Killer and Survivor Outfits, Behaviour is on the hunt for submissions that truly embody each character’s unique personality while still offering a fresh twist on existing in-game looks. The designs should not modify the character’s physical form, and Behaviour prefers understated Visual Effects (VFX) to keep things balanced. Moreover, it’s important to note that no linked sets are eligible, so there should be no interconnected cosmetics.
In the game ‘Dead by Daylight’, only characters originating from within the game are eligible to enter the contest. Characters from other horror franchises will not be accepted. Additionally, participants are prohibited from voting in the competition. The finalists will be chosen by a three-member panel who will evaluate the entries based on their originality and execution. For details about the Killer Outfit, Survivor Outfit, Badge, and Banner, please refer to the links provided in this message.
There appears to be much anticipation for the Design a Cosmetic Contest, yet some fans of “Dead by Daylight” have voiced concerns. These individuals fear that allowing the community to choose the winner might lead to overemphasis on the game’s most beloved characters, rather than evaluating each submission based on its merit alone. Here’s hoping the contest runs flawlessly and we see some unique cosmetics incorporated into the game!
