Superman: David Corenswet Celebrates Wrapping Filming

As a die-hard DC fan who has spent countless hours poring over comic books and watching animated series, I can say with utmost excitement that the upcoming James Gunn-directed Superman movie is a game-changer for the DC Universe! Having grown up idolizing the Man of Steel, I must admit that I was initially skeptical about David Corenswet taking on the iconic role. However, after witnessing his dedication and commitment throughout the film’s production, I have complete faith that he will deliver a performance worthy of the legend.

As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to share that we reached an exciting chapter on Tuesday within the expansive realm of the DC Universe. The news broke out about James Gunn’s Superman film wrapping up production, marking a significant milestone! This groundbreaking movie, serving as the first production under Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Studios, will feature David Corenswet stepping into the iconic roles of Clark Kent and Superman – and it seems he’s celebrating this momentous occasion in an extraordinary manner.

On Tuesday evening, Corenswet posted on social media a brief video showing him savoring a slice of chocolate cake while gazing fondly at the Superman character. This was because the filming for Superman had concluded, meaning he wouldn’t need to keep up his superhero body shape right away.

Superman‘s Cast and Crew

According to DC Studios, Superman narrates his tale of navigating his dual identity – the Kryptonian and the human Clark Kent from Smallville, Kansas. He is the personification of honesty, fairness, and a brighter future, standing strong amidst a world that often finds kindness outdated, due to his unwavering human compassion.

In addition to Superman, the cast also includes Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult portraying Lex Luthor, Skyler Gisondo taking on the role of Jimmy Olsen, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Sara Sampaio playing Eve Teschmacher, Terence Rosemore as Otis, Mar?a Gabriela de Far?a assuming Angela Spica / The Engineer, Isabela Merced depicting Kendra Saunders / Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt / Mr. Terrific, Anthony Carrigan embodying Rex Mason / Metamorpho, Beck Bennett acting as Steve Lombard, Mikaela Hoover portraying Cat Grant, and Christopher McDonald playing Ron Troupe.

The DC Universe Slate

As a passionate gamer and DC comics fan, I’m thrilled about the upcoming lineup from DC Studios! In 2025, we’ve got Superman gracing our screens, followed by Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow in 2026. There are also some unnamed projects like The Brave and the Bold, Swamp Thing, and The Authority in the pipeline.

In January 2023, Gunn clarified that while many believe the upcoming project will be similar to Marvel Studios 2.0, he emphasized significant differences. He noted they’re crafting an extensive, interwoven narrative reminiscent of Marvel, but with a more intricate and meticulously planned-out approach from the start. Moreover, the universe being created is analogous to Star Wars or Game of Thrones, featuring multiple timelines, locations, and characters with complex moralities.

Superman will be released exclusively in theaters on July 11, 2025.
