We’re getting back to our regular rhythm, which is less hectic than it was in July when we encountered numerous Legendary Ultra Beasts like Necrozma, thanks to Pokémon Go Fest 2024 happening. For a summary, do check out our coverage of the event held in Madrid.
It doesn’t mean there aren’t excellent Pokémon to capture this month; in fact, we have Pokémon like Shadow Suicune, Mega Salamence, and many others!

Pokémon Go Raids schedule: August 2024’s 5-Star Raid Battles explained
In August 2024, the calendar for Pokémon Go Raid Battles features a lineup of three Legendary Ultra Beast Pokémons – Moltres, Thundurus, and Xerneas.
All three can be Shiny too!
Moltres – 3rd August to 12th August
The Moltres 5-Star Raid event will take place from the 3rd of August up to and including the 12th of August. You have until the 12th of August at 10am (in your local time) to engage in a battle for the opportunity to catch a Moltres and receive other rewards.
Thundurus – 12th August to 21st August
From the 12th of August up until 10 am local time on the 21st of August, you’ll have the opportunity to capture a Thundurus.
Xerneas – 21st August to 3rd September
From August 21st up until September 3rd, at 6 PM local time, you have the opportunity to join a competition where you could capture a Xerneas and receive additional prizes as well.
Pokémon Go August 2024 Raid Hours schedule
During Pokémon Go’s Raid Hours, you’ll encounter more 5-Star Raid battles throughout the month. These hours offer the optimal moment to challenge the boss battles and potentially capture Legendary Pokémon.
Here is the Pokémon Go Raid Hours schedule for July 2024 (all 6pm-7pm local time):
- 7th August | Moltres
- 14th August | Thundurus
- 21st August | Xerneas
- 28th August | Xerneas
Pokémon Go Mega Raids August 2024 schedule

During the same period as the 5-Star Battles, you’ll also find Mega Raids. In August 2024, these new Mega Raids will feature Aerodactyl, Kangaskhan, and Salamence. Each of them could potentially be Shiny.
The August 2024 Pokémon Go Mega Raids is as follows (both end 10am local time):
- 3rd August – 12th August | Mega Aerodactyl
- 12th August – 21st August | Mega Kangaskhan
- 21st August – 3rd September | Mega Salamence
What is the Pokémon Go Shadow Raid in August 2024?
The Pokémon Go Shadow Raid in July 2024 is Shadow Suicune. Shadow Raids take place every weekend throughout each month. Shadow Suicune can be shiny.
Is there a August 2024 Pokémon Go Raid Day?
There is a Pokémon Go Raid Day on 3rd August and a Shadow Raid Weekend from 10th – 11th August.
The raid day will offer players the chance to catch a Mega Rayquaza that can be remote raided.
The date and times are:
- Saturday, 3rd August, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. local time
- Saturday, 3rd August, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. local time
- Saturday, 3rd August, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. local time
