As a seasoned Marvel fan with a lifetime of comic book memories etched into my heart, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement as I contemplate the upcoming release of Thunderbolts*! The prospect of seeing Winter Soldier, a character I’ve grown to love over the years, donning his long hair once again is a sight that brings a smile to my face.
As a die-hard Marvel fan, I can’t contain my excitement about next year when one of the Thunderbolts team members will be sporting a fresh new look in the upcoming movie. During Marvel Studios’ Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend, we got a sneak peek of the Thunderbolts footage, and let me tell you, it was electrifying!
As a die-hard fan, I was thrilled at this year’s SDCC when the Thunderbolts* footage unveiled that my beloved Winter Soldier will once again sport his iconic long tresses! After the emotional rollercoaster of Avengers: Endgame, Bucky Barnes opted for a short hairstyle during The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. However, it seems like we’ll be witnessing his original look returning to the big screen. For now, we can only speculate based on the Thunderbolts* footage; an official first look or trailer will be needed to confirm just how lengthy Bucky’s new do will be.
Thunderbolts* SDCC footage revealed
The ComicBook Phase Zero podcast reported live from San Diego Comic-Con, providing insights on the Thunderbolts footage that was exhibited.
Yelena taps on Alexei’s door. Finding him lounging carelessly on the couch, he hastily tidies up both his surroundings and himself before answering. However, despite his efforts, the room remains cluttered. He asserts that he is putting in a lot of effort and finding satisfaction, but it seems evident he is not telling the truth. Upon her arrival, he inquires about the reason for her visit. “I feel unwell,” she confesses.
In this scenario, Bucky (also known as Bob) walks into a courtroom. Meanwhile, the U.S. Agent peruses news articles about himself. Yelena gets into a scuffle in a hallway that mirrors Black Widow’s fight from Iron Man 2. She then explores a room filled with charts and is ambushed by the U.S. Agent. However, Ghost intervenes to protect her, while another adversary assists the U.S. Agent. Eventually, Bob appears in the same room, wearing a hospital gown, just as the room’s doors automatically lock.
Yelena openly admits she’s an assassin and suspects someone intends to eliminate them all. The room suddenly feels like an oven. When they reach a section with Loki’s scepter enclosed, Bucky looks displeased upon spotting Valentina. He then activates his Vibranium prosthetic.
The soundtrack gives a dreamy, slightly surreal vibe to the film. A grim color palette lends a rough, realistic texture to it. One sequence seems to take place at what could be the Avengers’ tower.
Jake Schreier, the director behind “Paper Towns” and “Beef”, is taking the helm for “Thunderbolts” based on a script co-written by Eric Pearson (“Thor: Ragnarok”, “Black Widow”), Lee Sung Jin (“Beef”), and Joanna Calo (“Bojack Horseman”).
Marvel Studio’s film titled “Thunderbolts” is set to release on May 5, 2025. Upcoming from Marvel Studios are “Captain America: Brave New World” scheduled for February 14, 2025, and “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” slated for July 25, 2025.
