Marvel Rivals PC: System requirements and platforms explained

Marvel Rivals PC: System requirements and platforms explained

As an old-timer in the gaming world, I’ve seen my fair share of system requirements that would make even the most high-end PCs sweat. However, Marvel Rivals has pleasantly surprised me with its refreshingly reasonable requirements. Powered by Unreal Engine 5, I half expected to see a list of components that would rival the cost of a small car! But no, the specs are reminiscent of my trusty rig from seven years ago.

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the recent buzz surrounding NetEase’s new hero-based PvP shooter, Marvel Rivals, has certainly piqued my interest. Having played countless games in this genre, I can attest to the allure they hold for gamers like myself who crave intense competition and immersive storylines. With thousands clamoring to get their hands on it, I thought I’d share some essential details about system requirements and available platforms for Marvel Rivals on PC.

As a passionate movie-lover and tech aficionado, I must confess that when I heard “Unreal Engine 5” is powering this game, my first instinct was to dust off my RTX 4090. But let me assure you, the technical requirements are surprisingly accessible – a delightful surprise for gamers like us!

As a longtime Marvel fan with years of gaming experience under my belt, I am thrilled about the opportunity to participate in the Marvel Rivals closed beta through Twitch Drops. Having followed the development of this game closely, I can hardly wait to dive into the action and try out the diverse roster of characters. The prospect of testing team-ups between these iconic heroes and villains is particularly exciting, as it promises a unique and immersive gaming experience that I believe will be unparalleled in the competitive multiplayer scene. This closed beta is an incredible opportunity for me to be among the first to explore the game’s mechanics and contribute valuable feedback to the developers, which will ultimately help shape the final product. Overall, I am beyond grateful for this chance to immerse myself in the Marvel universe like never before through Marvel Rivals and Twitch Drops.

Regardless if you’re watching at 1080p or 4K resolution, the Marvel Rivals voice cast delivers consistently high-quality performances. Ultimately, your talent is what truly shines through.

Even though both Thor and Jeff the Land Shark appear more visually appealing at higher resolutions, with sufficient frames, it’s likely that you’ll be so charmed by Jeff’s cuteness that distraction will ensue regardless.

As the exciting closure of the Marvel Rivals closed beta nears, I eagerly anticipate the official release date. Fingers crossed that the system specifications needed to play won’t become more demanding.

On that note, let’s check out where they currently stand!

Which PC platforms can play Marvel Rivals?

Marvel Rivals will be coming to Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Since this game exists only in an online format, you won’t find it on platforms such as GOG Galaxy and similar services, because these platforms prefer games that don’t utilize Digital Rights Management (DRM) for hosting.

Although a YouTube video from Deck Wizard demonstrates that the Steam Deck can reach a 30FPS performance level, it’s important to note that this was accomplished by installing Windows 11 on the device. Consequently, running Marvel Rivals on the Steam Deck isn’t likely due to its native software setup.

This is due to many developers not enabling anti-cheat for the Linux operating system.

If this were to ever change, we will update you as soon as we have more information.

Marvel Rivals system requirements: Minimum specs

Below are the minimum system requirements for Marvel Rivals:

  • OS –  Windows 10 64-bit
  • Processor –  Intel Core i5-6600K or AMD Ryzen 5 1600X
  • Memory –  12GB RAM
  • Graphics –  NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 or AMD RX 580
  • DirectX –  Version 12
  • Network –  Broadband internet connection
  • Storage –  70GB available space

Considering all factors, the specifications seem quite modest, especially since Marvel Rivals operates on Unreal Engine 5. The hardware in question appears to be around seven to eight years old.

Since Marvel Rivals is a free-to-play eSports game, it’s logical for NetEase to aim for an affordable entry point, enabling as many people as possible to participate and enjoy the competition.

Marvel Rivals system requirements: Recommended specs

Below are what NetEase reckon to be the recommended system requirements for Marvel Rivals:

  • OS –  Windows 10 64-bit
  • Processor –  Intel Core i5-10400 or AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
  • Memory –  16GB RAM
  • Graphics –  NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 (Super) or AMD RX 5700 XT
  • DirectX –  Version 12
  • Network –  Broadband internet connection
  • Storage –  70GB available space

As someone who has been a dedicated gamer for over two decades, I can confidently say that the recommendation of a PC with specifications similar to those found in the PS5 and Xbox Series X makes perfect sense. With my own gaming setup, I’ve experienced firsthand how these consoles have revolutionized gaming with their powerful hardware and seamless gameplay. A PC with comparable specs would undoubtedly deliver an equally immersive and responsive experience. In essence, it’s like having the best of both worlds: the convenience of a console and the versatility of a PC all in one package.

It’s likely, though not explicitly mentioned, that the settings or specifications are aimed at reaching a smooth 60 frames per second (FPS) at a resolution of 1080p. This is the preferred choice for many PC gamers.
