Mortal Kombat 1 Boss Says "Fingers Crossed" That Arnold Schwarzenegger Will Voice Conan the Barbarian

As a seasoned gamer with decades of Mortal Kombat under my belt, I must say that the announcement of the Khaos Reigns DLC at SDCC 2024 left me both exhilarated and apprehensive. On one hand, the prospect of new story chapters and six fresh fighters, including fan favorites like Noob Saibot, Cyrax, and Sektor, as well as crossover sensations such as Ghost Face, Conan the Barbarian, and T-1000, has me salivating at the prospect of endless hours of brutal combat. On the other hand, the uncertainty surrounding the involvement of Arnold Schwarzenegger as the voice for Conan leaves a sour taste in my mouth, much like Scorpion’s iconic Fatality move.

At San Diego Comic-Con 2024, “Mortal Kombat 1” unveiled exciting news about the “Khaos Reigns” DLC, adding a new storyline chapter and six fresh fighters through Kombat Pack 2. The upcoming fighters include fan favorites like Noob Saibot, Cyrax, and Sektor, along with three characters from popular films such as Ghost Face (from “Scream”), Conan the Barbarian, and T-1000 (from “Terminator”.) These new characters will be incorporated into “Mortal Kombat 11” over time. Notably, Robert Patrick has been confirmed to voice his famous T-1000 character, sparking speculation about Arnold Schwarzenegger’s potential involvement as Conan’s voice actor. However, during an interview with ComicBook at SDCC, Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon shared a slightly discouraging but hopeful response regarding this possibility.

You can hear Boon’s full answer in the clip above, but the gist is that the Mortal Kombat creator isn’t sure if the team can work out all the kinks to bring Schwarzenegger into the studio. When asked, Boon said, “I don’t know yet. We couldn’t get him to do Terminator. That was always a challenge….fingers crossed.”

Hearing that is a letdown, yet it’s accurate that arranging time with Schwarzenegger can be challenging. However, keep your fingers crossed, as there’s still a chance. It’s noteworthy that Schwarzenegger lent his voice for the game “Predator: Hunting Grounds” in 2020, which was released after “Mortal Kombat 11”. It’s hard to predict, but given his involvement in video games recently, he might be more inclined to participate. Regretfully, we’ll simply have to observe whether the NetherRealm team can pull it off.

The exciting update is that Boon successfully secured Patrick for T-1000 and Roger L. Jackson for Ghost Face. Jackson, known for his iconic role as the original Ghost Face in Scream, has made a name for himself as a talented voice actor in video games over the years. Fans will be familiar with him as Harkin from Mass Effect, Ichabod Crane from The Wolf Among Us, Lawrence Higgs from Fallout 4, and many more characters. He also lends his voice to Mojo Jojo in The Powerpuff Girls, demonstrating his versatility as a voice actor.

Right now, you can get your hands on “Mortal Kombat 1” for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, and personal computers. The “Khaos Reigns” add-on is coming out on September 24th, with additional guest characters being unveiled later on.
