Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Sells 62.9 Million, Animal Crossing: New Horizons at 45.85 Million

As a long-time Nintendo enthusiast who’s seen countless consoles come and go, I must say that the Switch has truly outshone them all. The numbers speak for themselves! Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, with its staggering 62.9 million units sold, is nothing short of a phenomenon. It’s like Mario himself has taken over the world, one kart at a time!

As a dedicated Nintendo fan, I’m thrilled to share some exciting updates! On June 30th, 2024, Nintendo unveiled updated sales figures for their top-performing titles. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe continues to reign supreme, with an impressive 62.9 million units sold (up from 61.97 million in the last quarter). Meanwhile, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has also been a massive hit, selling 45.85 million units (an increase from 45.36 million). These numbers truly speak to the enduring popularity of these games!

Distinguished mentions also go out to titles such as “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate” with a whopping 34.66 million units sold, followed closely by “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” at 32.05 million and “Super Mario Odyssey” at 28.21 million. In the realm of more recent releases, “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom,” launched in May 2023, has already sold an impressive 20.80 million copies.

Although they had remarkable performance during their lifetime, Nintendo experienced a significant 41.3% drop in software sales during the first quarter of fiscal year 2025. In this particular period, they sold only 30.64 million software units for the Switch, explaining that there were fewer “special factors” compared to the same period last year.

Here are the current top ten best-selling Nintendo Switch games, according to Nintendo’s official website, which you can explore for more details.
