As a seasoned gamer with a heart for movies that pack a punch, I must say the upcoming event of Twisters returning to 4DX theaters is nothing short of exhilarating! Having experienced the original Twister back in 1996, I can attest that the immersive experience of 4DX will take this thrilling tale of storm chasing to a whole new level.
A few weeks ago, Twisters made its debut in cinemas, and the sequel to the iconic 1996 disaster movie has had a robust start at the box office. Audience reactions have been positive, with the film currently holding a “Certified Fresh” rating of 76% from critics and an impressive 92% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Charlie Ridgely of ComicBook gave it a 4 out of 5, describing it as “an amazing throwback to our beloved blockbusters.” A notable aspect of the film’s release has been its success in 4DX theaters. The movie thrived in this immersive format and will soon be back on screens alongside the original Twister.
During the first week of the release of Twisters, almost all 4DX screenings for the movie were snapped up at Regal cinemas that featured the premium format. James Lamar, Film Head at Regal, stated this in a press release. Despite a busy summer movie schedule, we spotted an opening to extend the screening of Twisters by seven more days and present a novel way to experience the classic film in 4DX.
The films are set to screen at 4DX cinemas starting August 30th and will be playable until September 5th. Tickets for this special event are now available for purchase. Here’s a list of Regal Cinemas locations where the movie is being shown in 4DX:
What Is Twisters About?
The series, titled Twisters, centers around Kate Cooper (played by Daisy Edgar-Jones), a storm chaser who once had a harrowing experience with tornadoes during her college days. Now, she studies storm patterns from the safety of New York City. However, her friend Javi (Anthony Ramos) entices her to return to the open plains to test a revolutionary tracking system. Upon arrival, Kate encounters Tyler Owens (Glen Powell), a charismatic and daring storm chaser who loves posting his thrilling adventures online, especially those involving dangerous situations. As the storm season becomes increasingly intense, unprecedented weather events occur, placing Kate, Tyler, and their rival teams directly in the path of multiple storm systems converging over central Oklahoma. The fight for survival ensues.
As a passionate movie enthusiast, I’m excited to share that the film “Twisters” is directed by the brilliant Lee Isaac Chung, known for his work on “Minari.” Joining him in this remarkable cast are some familiar faces: Brandon Perea from “Nope,” Sasha Lane of “American Honey,” Daryl McCormack hailing from “Peaky Blinders,” Kiernan Shipka best recognized for her role in “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,” Nik Dodani famous for his work on “Atypical,” David Corenswet known for playing Superman, Katy O’Brian from “Love Lies Bleeding,” and the esteemed Maura Tierney, a Golden Globe winner in “Beautiful Boy.” This promising lineup has me eagerly anticipating this film!
