As a lifelong Cleveland resident and die-hard WWE fan, I must say that the city’s favorite son, Logan Paul, is facing some unexpected challenges leading up to SummerSlam. The hometown hero has had quite the rollercoaster ride on SmackDown this week, with LA Knight turning his grand banner unveiling into a chaotic spectacle.
In Cleveland, Logan Paul is regarded as a local favorite, although it might be an exaggeration to call him a hero given the fan response on WWE SmackDown. Tomorrow evening, SummerSlam will take place in Cleveland, and Paul aims to secure a significant home victory while defending his United States Championship against LA Knight. However, tonight’s SmackDown took a turn from a grand pre-match celebration into a warning that LA Knight is someone not to be underestimated. Knight vandalized Paul’s hometown banner and even stole his Prime truck, leaving the Champion stunned and bewildered.
The Banner Ceremony
At the start, Paul made an appearance and spoke to the crowd prior to his major event, followed by addressing LA Knight at SummerSlam. He declared, “It’s absurd if you believe that you’ll take away my United States Championship from me in my very own hometown!” Later on, he asserted, “Regardless of your denial, I embody the spirit and pride of this magnificent city. I symbolize this remarkable city. I am Cleveland,” which was met with a series of boos by the crowd. It’s fair to say that not everyone was in agreement with him.
Later, Paul unveiled the flag that would now be displayed in the arena permanently, yet what took him by surprise was finding out that LA Knight had given the flag a makeover. As the flag was presented to the crowd, it became clear that Paul’s image on the flag prominently featured the words “YEAH” written large across it. Overwhelmed by the unexpected transformation, Paul was left in awe. To add to his bewilderment, Knight emerged and playfully engaged with the audience, getting them to echo “YEAH,” while gazing at the flag. However, Knight didn’t stop there; he continued to torment Paul further.
Stealing the Ride
Later on, Knight reappeared, now positioned backstage near Paul’s Prime Truck. He fired a bold remark at Paul, saying, “I know Logan Paul’s mind is as empty as a Spirit of Halloween store; they might as well open one in there.” As the US Champion noticed the situation unfolding, he began to dash backstage in response.
Instead of waiting for Paul to arrive, Knight timed his departure, leaping into the vehicle as soon as he was nearly there. This sudden action left Paul stunned and upset by the unexpected turn of events. Knight’s actions have been causing tension, and now Paul is left without his grand banner and the Prime truck. Knight aims to achieve a trifecta, stripping him of his Title at SummerSlam as well.
