As a seasoned sports enthusiast with decades of following Olympic games, I must say that this year’s Paris Olympics have been nothing short of exhilarating! From Katie Ledecky’s triumphant gold win in the women’s 1500m freestyle to Shinnosuke Oka’s emotional display after claiming the men’s all-around individual gold, the spirit of competition is truly palpable.

Stephen Nedoroscik and Tess McCracken initially crossed paths during their college years, and they’ve been successfully navigating through life together ever since.

After eight years together, this gymnast pair has refined their performance to perfection – a state they’re quite content with.

Tess shared with TopMob News during a private chat at the 2024 Paris Olympics that our connection seems to be particularly strong. She emphasized that what makes us click is our ability to engage in deep intellectual discussions, as well as sharing thoughts on gymnastics, often leading to debates between us.

In keeping with the composure common among athletes facing pressure, Stephen (age 25) and Tess (age 26) maintain their calm demeanor.

She clarified, “We both remain calm when we differ. We debate using reasoning, ponder on the issue, and this thoughtful approach is excellent.”

Because at the end of the day, there’s no other place they’d rather be than with each other.

“Tess concluded, ‘We’re inseparable, and after eight years, we still enjoy each other’s company without needing a break. This bond has been crucial for our relationship, making the past eight years wonderful.'”

More recently, their fantastic journey culminated in taking them to the 2024 Paris Olympics. Tess was present, cheering Stephen on as he played a crucial role in his team clinching a bronze medal – their first in 16 years – with an almost flawless performance on the pommel horse.

Although Stephen, a two-time NCAA Champion with victories at two World Cup events and the inaugural American World Champion on the pommel horse, seems to glide through the competition with ease, it certainly does not lessen the challenge Tess faces while observing from the sidelines.

“She admitted it was extremely stressful for her,” she said. “Wearing a Fitbit, I find my heart rate consistently exceeds 140 beats per minute when he arrives. Just contemplating his upcoming arrival makes my heart race even beforehand.”

In reality, Tess is so deeply compassionate that when she views shows from her home on television, she follows a fascinating routine.

She acknowledged, “I’ll briefly stop the broadcast ahead of his departure, then I’ll hold off watching until Twitter or someone else provides an update on what happened. That way, I can alleviate my anxiety.”

“She mentioned that it’s significantly more challenging compared to her past competitions. For her, beam was her strongest event, and participating in the beam competition felt simpler than just watching someone else do it.”

Despite finding it challenging to witness him perform on the pommel horse during the Olympics (where he scored a remarkable 15.200), Tess and Stephen have been delighted by his recent fame, having become an internet phenomenon.

Including all the memes that have come with it.

Tess expressed her preference for the “Garfunkel and Oates” TikTok tune, specifically the part where it goes “and your friend Steve,” saying, “That’s my favorite so far.” She added, “I really enjoy it.”

As a lifestyle expert, I must say, Stephen has indeed earned his fair share of captivating comparisons – from basketball legend LeBron James and Superman’s human counterpart, Clark Kent – quite the impressive pairing! However, let me clarify that the 25-year-old powerhouse is presently gearing up for the pommel horse individual final on August 3. Preparation and focus are his top priorities right now, as he aims to conquer this challenge with grace and determination. Stay tuned for more updates!

Tess clarified, “He wants to shut himself off from distractions.” Over the past few days, he’s been quite busy with media engagements and public appearances. But now, he’s drawn a line and said, “I need to concentrate and get back on track. I will only train until Saturday, after which we can discuss things further.”

Although Stephen’s personal medal situation is still uncertain at present, here are some unforgettable moments that have emerged from Paris thus far.
