Deadpool & Wolverine: Josh Brolin Is Sad He Didn't Show Up

As a long-time Marvel fan and someone who’s had the privilege of witnessing Josh Brolin breathe life into two iconic roles – Thanos and Cable – I can’t help but feel a twinge of nostalgia when I hear about his desire to reprise his role as Cable in Deadpool 3. The man is a master of portraying complex, multi-dimensional characters, and Cable was no exception.

In the sequel of “Deadpool 2”, Josh Brolin expresses regret over not making a cameo as Cable. Unlike other Marvel actors, Brolin’s time-traveling X-Men character did not appear in a cameo role. In an interview with “Bingeworthy TV”, Brolin shared his desire to be part of the movie. However, with projects like “Dune: Part Two” and “Outer Range” taking up a significant amount of time, it seems unlikely he’ll reprise his role as Cable in the near future. The podcast also asked him about his listing on the IMDb page for “Deadpool & Wolverine”, to which Brolin replied, “I really wanted to be in that movie.” So, there’s a possibility that Brolin could return as Cable in future Deadpool adventures.

“My friend, Marvel is a tangled web compared to Outer Range, and I’ll probably never figure out all its secrets,” Brolin grinned. “I have no idea where it leads or what it represents, with the MCU being so intricate now… Playing Cable was enjoyable. I truly enjoyed that character. It was a blast to portray him.”

Could We See Brolin In His Other Marvel Role Again?

The ongoing triumph of Deadpool and Wolverine continues! Marvel Studios utilized this momentum to make some significant declarations at San Diego Comic-Con recently. With the Russo Brothers set to direct Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, could we expect their infamous villain to resurface in the MCU as well? Brolin hinted to ComicBook that there might be plans to reintroduce Thanos into the storyline. It’s worth noting that he has already given Thanos his voice in several episodes of What If…? on Disney+, keeping the channels open for further discussion. However, Brolin appeared taken aback when informed that Thanos holds the record for being the most killed MCU villain ever.

As a fan, I can’t help but share a tidbit I picked up – it seems like there might be whispers about bringing him back. Now, with shows like What If…?, who knows what version of Thanos we could see again? In the vast Marvel universe, I can’t say for certain if they will resurrect him, but I was unaware that he held the title of the most frequently killed-off villain. You truly learn something new every day!
