WWE SummerSlam: Liv Morgan Retains Women's World Championship After Dominik Mysterio Betrayal

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of wrestling entertainment under my belt, I must say that the WWE SummerSlam event this year has been nothing short of electrifying! The Women’s World Championship match between Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley was a rollercoaster ride of emotions, with Liv managing to retain her title amidst all the drama.

At Cleveland, Ohio, the WWE SummerSlam event commenced with Liv Morgan defending her Women’s World Championship against Rhea Ripley, her former title holder. There was uncertainty among fans regarding Dominik Mysterio’s loyalty towards his fellow Judgment Day members, as he had earlier shown allegiance to “Mami.” Accompanying Ripley in her match, Mysterio stood by her side while Morgan fought solo with an air of arrogance. The two women began the bout with a brief chase, trying to unsettle each other and gauge one another’s strengths.

Eventually, Ripley asserted control over Morgan, showing her undeniable superiority through powerful arm movements. However, during their contest, Ripley endured a severe shoulder injury. Despite managing to handle it for a while, Morgan continued to attack her, focusing on her face and arms with forceful blows. Ripley exited the ring to grab a steel chair, but was stopped by her opponent. When she tried to seize the chair, knowing it would lead to disqualification, she swung it away just enough for Dom to snatch it. They had an intense verbal exchange before Morgan took advantage of the distraction to execute the ObLIVion and retain the championship. Afterward, Dom smiled at Liv and then they shared a kiss as he walked up the ramp with her.

Behind the scenes, Damian Priest is seething with betrayal, hurling profanities at the rest of Judgment Day. Finn Balor tries to soothe him, but he’s far from receptive. With Morgan claiming the title and her partner, Ripley might stir up more trouble for the entire stable. In an interview with ComicBook during the SummerSlam press tour, Ripley expressed her desire to face Morgan in a Hell in a Cell match at WWE Bad Blood. Ripley last fought at WrestleMania where she injured her shoulder, leading to her vacating the title, which was later won by Becky Lynch and then by Morgan.
