Creature Commandos: James Gunn Teases "Sick" Soundtrack

As a long-time fan of James Gunn’s unique blend of humor, action, and heart, I am absolutely thrilled about the upcoming animated series, “Creature Commandos“. Known for his meticulous approach to soundtracks, even in animation, Gunn’s promise that the tunes for this series are “sick” only adds to my anticipation. With Kevin Kiner, who has scored some of the best Star Wars animated offerings, and Clint Mansell, the composer of “Black Swan” and the first season of “Peacemaker”, handling the score, I have no doubt that the series will be a sonic treat.

James Gunn has a history of considering soundtracks as crucial elements in movie production, often composing songs intended for his scripts during filming. Despite Creature Commandos being an animated series, fans can anticipate that Gunn will apply his distinctive commitment to its music. In fact, the director describes the tunes for the Max series as “awesome.”

Over the weekend, I posted an update on Threads revealing that Kevin Kiner and Clint Mansell have been tasked with scoring our upcoming show. For those familiar with my corner of the gaming universe, you might recognize Kevin Kiner for his work on many recent Star Wars animated series such as Tales of the Empire, The Bad Batch, and The Clone Wars. As for Clint Mansell, he’s best known for composing the score for Black Swan and season one of my Peacemaker series.

Who’s all in Creature Commandos?

The animated series “Creature Commandos” boasts an impressive cast, many of whom are slated to appear in upcoming live-action DC Universe projects. In this show, Sean Gunn plays Weasel, Frank Grillo is Rick Flag Sr., Maria Bakalova takes on the role of Princess Ilana Rostovic, Indira Varma portrays The Bride, Zoe Chao stars as Nina Mazursky, Alan Tudyk voices Dr. Phosphorus, David Harbour plays Eric Frankenstein, Sean Gunn lends his voice to G.I. Robot, and Steve Agee (from “Peacemaker”) reprises his character John Economos.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but share my excitement about the upcoming series, “Creature Commandos“. Previously, Gunn mentioned that this series is built around an extraordinary team from DC Comics. Here’s what makes it truly special – the DC Universe we’re creating will seamlessly blend animation with live-action. This means that TV shows, movies, and video games will all share the same universe, offering a unique, interconnected experience.

The Creature Commandos are set to make their first appearance on Max in December; however, a specific launch date is still pending announcement. Gunn penned every episode of the series.
