As a movie critic with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the return of Wesley Snipes as Blade in Deadpool & Wolverine was not only a delightful surprise but also a testament to the enduring power of a well-loved character. The fact that Snipes broke two Guinness World Records with his reprisal of Blade is simply icing on the cake!
As Blade, portrayed by Wesley Snipes, made his entrance alongside Deadpool and Wolverine, viewers found themselves flooded with a sense of nostalgic excitement. This appearance not only served to resolve some lingering questions about this character, but it also set the stage for even more thrilling events to unfold.
Guinness World Records confirmed that Snipes set two new records by playing Blade again, earning him two thrilling achievements!
With his return as the half-vampire “daywalker”, Snipes took the titles of Longest Career as a Live-Action Marvel character, beating co-star Hugh Jackman, who was expected to beat out Patrick Stewart’s Professor Charles Xavier in his latest movie outing.
Not only did Tom Holland’s character, Snipes, claim the role of Longest Time Span Between On-Screen Marvel Character Reappearances, but this title was previously held by Alfred Molina with his comeback as Doctor Octopus in Spider-Man: No Way Home. This was 17 years after his initial appearance in Spider-Man 2.
For a long time, discussions revolved around reviving Blade, an idea Snipes found implausible until Reynolds proposed it to him.
He expressed that the situation seemed unclear to him initially, but when an unexpected call came from Ryan Reynolds after 20 years, he decided it was something he had to answer. So, he picked up the phone and wondered what this conversation could be about.
As a movie enthusiast, I was pitched an intriguing concept. Excitedly, they gave their approval, saying “Yes” and giving the green light. With their support, we’ve embarked on this cinematic journey together. And now, here we stand, ready to bring this vision to life on the big screen.
Apart from Snipes, several other familiar faces graced the screen in Deadpool & Wolverine, including Jennifer Garner, Dafne Keen, Channing Tatum, and Chris Evans.
The thrilling comeback of Chris Evans as the Human Torch in the MCU broke his Guinness World Record for the highest number of Marvel superhero movie appearances, now standing at 11 films.
Deadpool & Wolverine is in cinemas now.
