As I delve into the lives of these remarkable Duggar children, each one with their unique charm and spirit, it’s hard not to be captivated by little Jenni, the baby of the brood. Born on August 2, 2007, she was just a bundle of joy when “17 Kids and Counting” first graced our screens. Now, fast forward to her teenage years, and she’s blossomed into a dependable, loyal, and fun-loving young lady!
Regardless of whether they reside near or far from their parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s children have consistently made it a point to avoid hiding any upcoming nuptials in secrecy.
As a fervent admirer, I’ve been following Jana Duggar’s life closely, and it seems to me that, despite the recent buzz about her engagement, she might still be single. This speculation arises from her sharing pictures showing a ring on her ring finger. However, her family representative has yet to confirm or deny this conjecture.
As a devoted admirer, I must say that, being one of the 19 offspring, aged 34 and sharing the position of the second-born with my twin brother John-David Duggar, I’ve always been intrigued by our family dynamics. However, unlike many in my clan, I’ve chosen to break free from a familiar pattern – I’ve embarked on a journey of independence, living life unencumbered by the traditional trappings of marriage, at least for now.
The younger sisters, namely Jill, Jessa, Jinger, and Joy-Anna, lived at home until they got married. However, unlike the others, Jana revealed in a video posted on July 15 while showing off her charming dwelling, has been residing in a small house for several years now and has been personalizing it.
In addition, she mentioned that they had secured an excellent price for it at a city auction. However, as she continued speaking, it seemed like “they” included other members of the Duggar family.
During her break from Instagram and YouTube, Jana has been seen in more recent videos spending a significant amount of time with her siblings – Johannah (18), Jenni (17), Jordyn-Grace (15), Josie (14), Jason (24), James (23), and Jackson (20).
She has 11 married siblings, resulting in over 30 nieces and nephews, such as Grace (John-David’s 4-year-old daughter) and Charlie (who is 22 months old). Jana, seen wearing the ring in recent photos from a trip to Charleston, S.C., with her twin sister-in-law Abbie and their children, was the one in question.
At home, the loving older sister frequently organizes movie nights (she even showcased a large projector screen and sound system in her living room on YouTube) and always has a bowl filled with sweets ready for her nieces and nephews. Additionally, amid Jana’s numerous creative small-space storage ideas is her music corner, adorned with a full-sized keyboard and her violin hung on the wall.
In addition, she led the initiative to construct an outdoor pool on the premises, complete with safety fencing and a locking gate (to ensure the safety of small children). She expressed her enthusiasm for this project in a video posted on August 1st, stating that her goal was to develop a place where both young and old could gather and enjoy themselves during the summer.
Actually, it appears that Jana is devoting much of her time to home improvements. Not just making over her personal living area – which was once a single, large room that served as a temporary city office – but also contributing effort towards the family farm located in Arkansas.
Jason, like a contractor, and James have relocated to nearby residences, yet they continue to maintain a strong emotional connection to their hometown.
At the peak of the pandemic, Jana continued residing with her parents. Occasionally, she felt a bit pressured to form relationships, yet she wasn’t overly concerned about it.
In 2020, she expressed to Us Weekly her desire for marriage. However, she also mentioned that while she believes this will happen someday, she’s currently keeping busy and making the most out of her single years. When the right time arrives, it will mark a new chapter in her life.
Jana commented, “Instead of fretting over it by saying, ‘Uh oh, I’m not married,’ and dwelling on it, which only makes things more complicated, I prefer to keep myself occupied by finding something else to do.”
I can’t help but admire my amazing sister Jana – if not for her tireless efforts, more than half of our family projects would remain undone!
Recently, I teamed up with my siblings a few years back, and together we transformed our family’s playroom at home into an exciting attraction known for its intricate slides. Now, it’s a place where children of various age groups eagerly flock to spend their time.
Just like farmers understand all too well, there’s always something to be done: from tending to the arrival of numerous newborn creatures in the spring, to shearing sheep, providing for horses, and tackling the daunting task of decluttering a shed filled with an overwhelming amount of clutter.
In her June 30 YouTube comeback after nearly four years, Jana expressed her deep affection for the current season, stating, “You can witness the blooming of flowers, the sprouting of vegetables, and it’s simply a time of fresh growth everywhere. The beauty is truly breathtaking here.”
Which sounds like the perspective of someone who’s happy right where she is.
As a dedicated admirer, I couldn’t help but reflect on the need for personal space, especially when one has grown up amidst such an extensive crowd. Allow me to share a comprehensive overview of the Duggar family tree, a fascinating tapestry indeed!
Originally a pair of high school sweethearts, these parents of 19 and grandparents to more than three dozen children began their journey together.
Michelle shared a memory of being rescued at the age of 15. One evening, Jim Bob was conducting house visits as part of his Baptist church duties when he was informed by a friend that a cheerleader who had recently experienced a spiritual transformation resided at the Ruark family home.
They extended an invitation for Michelle to attend Sunday school at their church, and Jim Bob expressed his hope that they could guide each other spiritually—however, it seemed Michelle didn’t find their initial encounter particularly remarkable. A year later, she applied for a position at the frozen yogurt store that belonged to Jim Bob’s family. In a letter posted on their blog for Jim Bob’s birthday and their 33rd wedding anniversary in 2017, Michelle recounted, “You stood behind the counter where I was stationed by the cash register, and you introduced yourself. You were timid but very kind! I don’t recall much about that exchange, except that you eventually gathered the nerve to ask me if I would accompany you to your junior-senior banquet!”
In a dinner at Shiloh Christian, they were together, but it wasn’t until late nights spent discussing the Bible at her family home that she truly felt their bond deepen. As Michelle puts it, “Our hearts became one from then on.” They graduated high school in May of 1984 and got married in July, with Michelle being 17 and Jim Bob being 19.
The couple dedicated themselves to God and each other for the long run.
Jim Bob once held a position as a state legislator in Arkansas, representing the sixth district in the House of Representatives from 1999 to 2002. During this time, he served as vice chair of the Corrections and Criminal Law Subcommittee. In 2002, he attempted to run for the U.S. Senate but was unsuccessful in the primary. He also ran for the Republican nomination for Arkansas State Senate District 35 in 2006, but his bid ended in the primary as well.
As a long-time supporter of conservative causes and a licensed realtor myself, I can relate to He and Michelle’s dedication to their beliefs. Having been active in similar advocacy work, I understand the importance of standing up for what one believes in, even if it means facing criticism. However, I find it troubling that their involvement in controversial issues has extended to a television show, specifically the robocall Michelle made in 2014 against an anti-discrimination ordinance.
The city council approved the ordinance.
The eldest member of the Duggar family, Josh, made his entrance into the world on March 3, 1988. Just like many before him, he also took up a conservative activist role, advocating for the Family Research Council.
In 2015, police records from the past emerged, implicating him in accusations of molestation against multiple girls, including his sisters Jessa and Jill, when he was a teen. Later that year, Jessa defended her brother during an interview with Fox News, stating that the harsh labels being used against Josh were “excessive and false,” adding that she, as one of the victims, could say this because it was the truth.
His wife remained by his side, even after he confessed to infidelity. In 2016, when he entered a rehabilitation facility, his parents viewed it as the initial move towards recovery and healing. They are a family of five: daughter Mackynzie (born Oct. 8, 2009), sons Michael (June 15, 2011) and Marcus (June 2, 2013). When the scandal erupted, Anna was pregnant with their fourth child, Meredith, who was born on July 16, 2015. The same day TLC canceled “19 Kids,” Meredith entered the world. Their fifth child, Mason Garett, was born on Sept. 12, 2017, followed by Maryella Hope on Nov. 27, 2019, and their seventh baby, Madyson Lily, arrived on Oct. 23, 2021.
In an indictment made public in April 2021, Josh faced charges for two separate offenses: receiving and possessing child pornography. He pleaded not guilty to these accusations. A year later, in 2022, he was convicted on both counts and sentenced to serve a term of 12 and a half years behind bars.
After Josh’s birth, Michelle became pregnant once more, however, she experienced a miscarriage. During their period of mourning and seeking divine guidance, they discovered they were expecting twins.
In my world, it felt like a divine double grace, a gentle nudge from above. My heart was being tenderly guided, and I’m continually learning. It’s an extraordinary twist, for I nurse my little ones, yet they’re so closely knit in age. Just eight months separate them, making our family’s story even more peculiar. But then again, who am I to question the unfathomable ways of the Almighty, who has woven such an intricate tapestry with our lives?
John-David and his sister Jana were born on Jan. 12, 1990.
Over the course of several years, I’d admired them from afar, even though we hadn’t formally met. But fate brought us together at a church gathering in Abbie’s home state, Oklahoma. John-David and Abbie, my beloved couple, tied the knot on Nov 3, 2018. Their union blessed me with the arrival of their firstborn, Grace Annette Duggar, on Jan 7, 2020, and their second son, Charlie Duggar, in September 2022. I couldn’t be more thrilled for them!
On his 30th birthday in January 2020, John-David’s twin sister wrote him a heartfelt message: “Ever since we were young children, people have often wondered if we had that ‘twin connection.’ You know, the sensation of feeling what the other one is feeling or knowing what the other one is thinking… Well, John, I always denied it—but now I can truthfully say that when our sister Gracie was born, I shared all your joy, so maybe it’s true!”
Jana went on, expressing, “It’s truly heartwarming to see you and Abbie parenting! You two seem so natural at it! The very traits that make you such a fantastic brother will undoubtedly make you an exceptional father.”
In terms of her private life, although being single at 30 isn’t entirely uncommon, Jana finds herself standing out somewhat within her family circle. She maintains a good sense of humor about this situation and even posted a humorous sign in August saying “PLEASE FORM A SINGLE LINE,” with an arrow indicating towards herself.
In my past, I’ve encountered several individuals who have expressed interest, yet none of them seemed to be the perfect fit for me. It’s a peculiar phase I find myself in – neither a young, unmarried individual nor an older counterpart who is already married with children. This in-between stage can be quite intriguing.
Born on May 17, 1991, Jill shares a romantic tale similar to her parents’. It was during the festive season of Christmas in 2011 that she encountered Derick for the first time. This chance meeting took place when he dropped by the Duggar family residence while his church group was out caroling nearby.
Jim Bob acted as a cupid, and Jill and Derick found an instant connection, their bond deepening through emails and video calls. In November of the same year, they visited Derick in Nepal, and their affection for each other grew further. By February 2014, Derick requested Jim Bob’s permission to propose, which he graciously granted. They got married on June 21, 2014, and have since become proud parents to three sons—Israel, born on April 6, 2015, Samuel, born July 8, 2017, and Frederick, born July 7, 2022.
In the month of April 2024, Jill disclosed that she had experienced a miscarriage during her pregnancy with their first daughter, Derick and her.
Originally featured on both “19 Kids and Counting” and subsequent series “Counting On,” the pair found themselves in controversy when Derick was dismissed from the show in 2017 due to derogatory comments about another TLC reality personality, Jazzy Jennings, which were perceived as homophobic.
In the pulsating heart of 2023, I found myself deeply engrossed in the riveting spectacle that was the Amazon Prime Video documentary titled “Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets.” As an ardent fan, I couldn’t help but ponder over the whirlwind of controversies and spiritual beliefs swirling around the Duggar family, which this documentary so masterfully unfolded.
Jim Bob and Michelle’s fifth child was born Nov. 4, 1992.
Jessa got acquainted with Ben at church in 2013, and he started wooing her in an old-fashioned manner, which was quite novel for many spectators. The pair had always kept their love life under wraps before getting engaged, so Jim Bob clarified to People magazine, “Courting involves getting to know each other in a group setting, where both families spend time together and the couple establish shared objectives to ascertain if they are destined for marriage. Dating, on the other hand, often involves two people spending intimate time alone, which can sometimes lead to physical intimacy.”
In August 2014, Ben asked for Jessa’s hand in marriage, and they got engaged. The couple sealed their commitment by holding hands for the first time. They were married on November 1, 2014. At that time, Jessa was pregnant with their first child. Unfortunately, the show “19 Kids and Counting” was canceled while she was pregnant due to a special about past sexual abuse allegations involving Jill and Jessa. This special aimed to educate viewers on the subject. Later that winter, Jessa and Jill became the stars of their own show called “Jill and Jessa: Counting On.” As time went on, more Duggar siblings joined them in the series, which eventually transformed into “Counting On.”
Over the course of time, Jessa and Ben have added four new members to their family: Spurgeon (born Nov. 5, 2015), Henry (Feb. 6, 2017), Ivy Jane (May 28, 2019), and Fern (July 2021). Unfortunately, Jessa experienced a miscarriage during the 2022 holiday season. However, she was blessed with her fifth child, George, in December 2023.
The sixth Duggar child was born Dec. 21, 1993.
Jinger and Jeremy first met while engaged in community service in Laredo, Texas, and their relationship blossomed into courtship in 2016. They tied the knot on November 5, 2016, which happened to be their nephew Spurgeon’s birthday, making for a memorable occasion given their large family of 19 members. Almost immediately after their wedding, speculation about a possible pregnancy began to swirl around them.
In a year, we likely will have found our rhythm, continuing our ministry right here in Laredo, all while striving to serve God in whatever capacity we can, as Jinger shared in a June 2017 episode of Counting On.
The family’s daughter named Felicity came into the world on July 19, 2018. Back in May of that year, they announced that Jinger was expecting again, but unfortunately had experienced a miscarriage in the fall. In November 2020, they added another member to their family, Evangeline Jo.
Born on January 20, 1995, individual number 7 found the perfect romantic moment to pop the question. He had only recently started dating Kendra, whom he met through church, and decided to propose at his sister Joy-Anna’s wedding in May 2017, just a few short months after they began courting.
Joseph confessed to People magazine that he was undeniably anxious before proposing, but he wasn’t worried about her declining his proposal since she had previously stated, “‘I’m just waiting for you!'” In response, Kendra expressed her immense joy and astonishment. She has a multitude of words she wishes to express, but all she can say is shocked.
Since then, they have added four children to their family: Garrett, born in June 2018, Addison, who joined in November 2019, Brooklyn, born in February 2019, and Justus, born in May 2023.
Eighth in line, Josiah was born on Aug. 28, 1996.
In just a few months after their relationship became public knowledge, they announced their engagement in March 2018. He explained in a statement that the location where he proposed to Lauren was the same spot where her parents got engaged. The property holds a lot of family history, making it a very special place for Lauren.
In a video shared on their blog, Michelle (who will soon be Lauren’s mother-in-law) expressed her affection for Lauren, saying “Lauren is such a treasured young lady.” Jessa and Ben joined in with congratulations, and presented a box of chocolate shaped as x’s and o’s. Michelle then playfully hinted at something sweet if they visited, holding up the prize, saying “I think you two might want to save your first kiss for your wedding day, but if you come over here we’ll give you…”
In the summer of 2015, a past relationship with Marjorie Jackson came to an end as they chose different paths. Josiah reminisced about their time together in an interview with People magazine in March 2016, stating, “We had some great moments together. We were simply trying to listen and respond to God’s guidance at every step. Unfortunately, she didn’t believe it was the right moment for us then, so we decided to take a break.”
On June 30, 2018, they officially got married, sharing with People that their wedding day was “completely perfect.” Their first child, Bella Milagro, arrived on Nov. 8, 2019, a name meaning “miracle baby,” as the couple had previously experienced a miscarriage in October 2018. They added another daughter, Daisy, to their family in 2022 and welcomed a son named Ezra in May 2023.
The ninth Duggar sibling was born Oct. 28, 1997.
For a period of fifteen years, she had been friends with Austin, and it was only afterwards that he began pursuing her. Following this development, there was no delay in their actions. He popped the question in February 2017, and they exchanged vows on May 26, 2017, at Cross Church in Rogers, Arkansas – the same church where Joseph proposed to Kendra. Their son, Gideon Martin Forsyth, was born on February 23, 2018.
In 2019, Joy-Anna suffered a pregnancy loss with a baby girl at 20 weeks along.
On Aug. 21, 2020, the couple welcomed daughter Evelyn Mae Forsyth.
The couple’s third child, son Gunner James Forsyth, was born on May 17, 2023.
Jim Bob and Michelle’s second set of twins were born on Dec. 30, 1998.
In February 2017, it became known that Jed was interning at his father’s former workplace, the Arkansas House of Representatives at the state capitol. At just 21 years old, he is now running for State Representative in District 89, with a focus on upholding Springdale’s conservative values. In April 2021, he married Katey Nakatsu after a year of dating. They have since welcomed a son, Truett, born in May 2022, and a daughter, Nora Kate, born in June 2023.
Jeremiah, a qualified aviation trainer, is married to Hannah Wissmann and together they have two children: Brynley, born in December 2022, and Brielle, who came into the world in February 2024.
Duggar child No. 12 was born on April 21, 2000.
In January 2017, as reported by the Daily Mail, Jim Bob aided Jase in purchasing a $33,000 fixer-upper located approximately 30 minutes from the Duggar family homestead in Prairie Grove, AR. Subsequently, he established his own construction company. Despite this new endeavor, Jim Bob made time to assist Jed with his political campaign.
He went Instagram official with girlfriend Maddie Grace Jones in July 2024.
Charmed No. 13, James arrived on July 7, 2001.
On his 19th birthday in the year 2019, his mother expressed, “He is quite the ‘fun uncle’ and all the younger lads around here admire him and aspire to emulate him. James possesses an uncanny ability to accomplish nearly anything he dreams up. As a child, we used to discover James tinkering with various household devices. He has always been one to disassemble things, understand their mechanics, reassemble them, and occasionally make some unique improvements!”
Having gone through the same process of obtaining my CDL a few years back, I can truly appreciate James’ dedication and determination. Seeing him master the art of driving big trucks and heavy machinery fills me with admiration. I am confident that his future holds great opportunities, as his skills and knowledge are exceptional. I eagerly look forward to witnessing the amazing things he will accomplish in the years ahead.
No. 14 arrived on Nov. 15, 2002.
And from the department of growing up so fast…
In September 2020, Justin made their relationship with Claire known to the public. They became engaged in November of the same year, and on February 26, 2021, they tied the knot.
Here with his big sister Jill, Jim Bob and Michelle’s 15th child was born May 23, 2004.
On his sixteenth birthday, mom Michelle complimented Jackson on his wit and mentioned that she was well aware of his eagerness to obtain his driver’s license.
Duggar baby No. 16 was born Oct. 11, 2005.
Reflecting back on Johannah’s 15th birthday celebration in 2020, I penned down a sentiment that truly resonates with me: “She is such an exuberant, sociable soul, and she delights in forming new bonds.” As her mother, it brings immense joy to witness how her younger sisters idolize her as if she were the stars themselves. Truly, I am beyond grateful to be graced with the privilege of being Johannah’s mom!
On August 2, 2007, Number 17 made its appearance. At that time, the show was called “17 Kids and Counting,” and Jenni was the youngest child in the household.
Now, OMG, she’s a teenager.
Michelle wrote, “Jennifer is reliable, devoted, and a real blast! On her 13th birthday, she was praised for these qualities. She’s adored by her nieces and nephews, who often cling to her because they don’t want her to let go. Moreover, Jennifer has a soft spot for animals and is diligent about caring for her pets daily. Notably, she recently assisted in raising seven little bunnies!”
Here on the right, the penultimate Duggar child was born Dec. 18, 2008.
In 2019, her mother described Jordyn-Grace as a sociable girl who seems to know everyone, adding a hearty chuckle. Her laughter is often one of the highlights of our day.
Born on December 10, 2009, three months early and tipping the scales at just 1 lb 6 oz, Lucky No. 19 (currently seen cradling niece Meredith) faced a challenging start to life. Despite this, Josie was admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit for six long months. However, today, Josie is thriving and doing wonderfully well.
