View Urgent ForecastBattlefield 2042 was a swing and a miss for EA’s flagship shooter franchise, but the company is continuing to invest heavily in the series’ future, with multiple studios across the company working together on the next steps forward for Battlefield. And while there are currently little to no official details on what that future is going to look like exactly, EA’s CEO Andrew Wilson has offered a brief update on the next Battlefield project.
During EA’s recent earnings discussion, Wilson mentioned that the upcoming installment in the Battlefield series is one of the most ambitious projects the company has ever undertaken. He also emphasized that the team working on it is committed to delivering a truly epic Battlefield gaming experience.
Wilson stated that the community is buzzing with enthusiasm about the work our teams are accomplishing and eager for what’s to come next. Not only is this a top priority, but it’s also one of our most daring projects ever undertaken. We’ve assembled an exceptional team alongside the necessary resources and technology to create an unforgettable Battlefield experience.
Electronic Arts has several studios actively developing the Battlefield series. Besides the main developer DICE, Criterion Games is taking charge of the upcoming single-player campaign for the next Battlefield game following the closure of Ridgeline Games earlier this year. Furthermore, it was revealed in April that Motive Studio, known for creating Dead Space, has established a new team dedicated to contributing to the development of Battlefield as well.
According to previous rumors, the upcoming “Battlefield” game is planned for release in October 2025. This project is being handled by Ripple Effect Studios, who are also reportedly working on a separate, free-to-play battle royale game within the first-person shooter franchise.
