Monster Hunter Wilds Trailer Highlights the Great Sword

As a seasoned Monster Hunter veteran with countless hours spent wielding various weapons, I can confidently say that the introduction of the Great Sword in Monster Hunter Wilds has me absolutely thrilled! The tactical depth this weapon offers is simply unparalleled – from its powerful charged slashes to its strategic guarding abilities and new upward slash. The prospect of knocking a monster down and following up with devastating slices has me drooling at the mouth, just thinking about it.

As a fervent fan, I’m eagerly anticipating Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 20th, which seems to be the stage where Capcom will unveil its next trailer for Monster Hunter Rise. In the lead-up to that grand reveal, Capcom has been showcasing each weapon type in the game, with the Great Sword being the first to take center stage. Known for its slow yet powerful strikes, it’s a weapon ideal for hit-and-run tactics and dishing out big damage numbers.

As a seasoned swordsman with years of combat under my belt, I can attest to the unique nature of The Great Sword. Its signature move, the charged slash, is both a blessing and a curse. While it leaves me momentarily exposed, landing one correctly can lead to two more rounds of charged slashes, dealing significant damage to my foes. This weapon’s versatility makes it an ideal choice for defending against attacks. Moreover, the ability to cancel charged slashes with a well-timed shoulder tackle not only saves me from further harm but also reduces the damage I receive. In my experience, The Great Sword is more than just a weapon; it’s a strategic tool that can turn the tide of battle in my favor.

In simpler terms, Wilds has a potent downward thrust that knocks monsters off balance, followed by two additional strikes. The Focus Mode lets you sweep the blade across a monster, causing harm to numerous injuries, and it even has an exciting instant where you can block an attack.

As a long-time fan of the Monster Hunter series, I can hardly contain my excitement as I eagerly await the release of Monster Hunter Wilds next year. Having spent countless hours hunting and slaying monstrous beasts on various platforms over the years, I am thrilled to see the game coming to the Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.
