How to get all Eevee evolutions in Pokémon Go: Names explained

How to get all Eevee evolutions in Pokémon Go: Names explained

Alright, fellow Pokemon Trainer! I remember my first Eevee evolution like it was yesterday – the thrill of changing its name to Rainer and, voila, I got myself a Vaporeon! That’s the beauty of this game, isn’t it? It brings back so many memories.

As an enthusiastic Pokémon Go player, I’m well aware that collecting all eight unique Eevee evolutions is no small feat. But fear not, fellow trainers, as we’re here to guide you through the journey!

As a devoted cinema-goer might say, “Ever since the debut of Red and Blue on the classic Game Boy in 1996, the intriguing Eevee evolutions – or ‘Eeveelutions’ as we fans call them – have been stealing the show in the world of Pokémon. These remarkable transformations gave birth to Flareon, Jolteon, and Vaporeon, characters that continue to captivate us even today.”

More Eeveelutions have been added to the series since, and now there are eight in total.

Every evolution of Eevee represents a distinct type. In the primary series of games, you can trigger an Eevee’s evolution by utilizing specific items like a Water Stone or a Fire Stone, which transforms Eevee into Vaporeon or Flareon respectively.

As a seasoned Pokémon Go player with years of experience under my belt, I can attest to the fact that the game doesn’t provide clear guidance on how to evolve Eevee into the desired Eeveelution. This lack of clarity has left many players, including myself, scratching our heads in confusion at times. However, after much trial and error, I’ve discovered a trick that seems to work consistently: renaming Eevee before evolving it.

That’s where we come in.

To play this game, you’ll require Candy, take some strolls, and employ a clever nicknaming strategy for Eevee. For further details, please watch the video crafted by our resident expert, Cole Luke, which can be found above!

What does Eevee evolve into in Pokémon Go?

Initially, when Pokémon was introduced back in 1996 (in the games Red and Blue), Eevee had just three possible evolutions: Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon were among the initial 151 Pokémon.

Over time, with an increasing number of new games, Eevee has seen a remarkable expansion in its potential evolutions, reaching a total of eight(!), making it the Pokémon with the most distinct evolution paths!

Each Eevee evolution is a different type – so choose carefully:

  • Vaporeon (Water-type)
  • Jolteon (Electric-type)
  • Flareon (Fire-type)
  • Umbreon (Dark-type)
  • Espeon (Psychic-type)
  • Leafeon (Grass-type)
  • Glaceon (Ice-type)
  • Sylveon (Fairy-type)

How to get all Eevee evolutions in Pokémon Go: Names explained

In the primary Pokemon games, evolving Eevee calls for specific items, certain moves, and a high level of friendship – but in Pokemon Go, you can evolve an Eevee simply by providing it with 25 Eevee candies.

As a seasoned Pokemon Trainer with years of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that obtaining Eevee candies is a crucial part of our journey. You can accumulate these candies in various ways – capturing Eevees themselves, having one as your buddy Pokemon and hatching eggs. But if you’re looking to maximize your candy count, transferring Eevees to Professor Willow is the way to go! It’s an essential strategy that I’ve learned through countless battles and adventures, allowing me to evolve my beloved Eevee into its many forms and strengthen my team. So don’t overlook this simple yet effective method; it could be the key to unlocking your ultimate Pokemon team!

As a seasoned Pokémon Trainer with years of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that this method is not always reliable when it comes to evolving Eevee into a specific evolution. I’ve found myself in situations where I’ve evolved Eevee randomly and ended up with Vaporeon, Jolteon or Flareon instead of the one I wanted. If you’re like me and have your heart set on a particular evolution for your beloved Eevee, I recommend exploring other methods to ensure you get the desired result. Good luck, fellow Trainer!

How to evolve Eevee using names

As a passionate moviegoer captivated by the mystique of Pokémon, here’s my take on it: When I rename my Eevee prior to feeding it with 25 candies, I can manipulate its evolution and acquire the desired form according to my preference.

As a long-time Pokemon enthusiast who’s spent countless hours battling and collecting creatures since the early days of the franchise, I can confidently say that this new way of evolving Eevee is a fantastic addition to the game. In my experience, having the ability to choose which evolution you want by simply renaming your Eevee is not only fun but also adds a level of personalization and strategy that wasn’t there before. I remember spending hours trying to figure out how to get the evolution I wanted in previous games, and this new method makes it so much easier and more enjoyable. Plus, who doesn’t love having their Eevee evolve into their favorite form once they feed it 25 candy? This is definitely a feature that I’ll be using often in my future Pokemon adventures.

  • Vaporeon – Rainer
  • Jolteon – Sparky
  • Flareon – Pyro
  • Umbreon – Tamao
  • Espeon – Sakura
  • Leafeon – Linnea
  • Glaceon – Rea
  • Sylveon – Kira

These are not random names, either, but rather a nod to the long-running anime TV show.

As someone who has spent countless hours immersed in the world of Pokémon, I can tell you that the name trick is indeed a valuable tool to have in your arsenal. However, I’ve learned the hard way that it only works once per evolutionary line. So, if you manage to get a Vaporeon by changing Eevee’s name to Rainer, don’t expect to replicate the process with another Eevee and get another Vaporeon – trust me, I’ve tried! Instead, you’ll need to explore other methods to expand your collection. But hey, isn’t that part of the adventure? Embracing the challenges and learning from our failures makes us stronger trainers, right?

How to evolve Eevee into Espeon and Umbreon

How to get all Eevee evolutions in Pokémon Go: Names explained

If you’re aiming for an Espeon or Umbreon, you can employ the “name trick,” which was initially utilized when these two creatures debuted in Pokémon Gold and Silver games. Alternatively, you could use the original method from those games to obtain them.

As a long-time Pokemon trainer, I can tell you that building stronger bonds with your digital pets is a crucial aspect of the game. One way to do this is by making Eevee your buddy and logging those miles together. With my years of experience under my belt, I can assure you that the journey towards friendship will be filled with memorable moments and rewarding encounters. So, lace up your shoes, grab your Pokedex, and let’s hit the road with our beloved Eevee!

After traveling 10 kilometers, your Eevee will be prepared to evolve. However, the time of day plays a role in determining which evolution you receive. Here’s a helpful tip: If it’s daytime, you’ll get an Espeon; if it’s nighttime, you’ll receive Umbreon. Important to note: In either case, you will require 25 Eevee Candy to evolve your Eevee into either Umbreon or Espeon.

Unlike the name exploit, however, you can use this method as much as you like!

In the game, a small symbol near the ‘evolve’ area on the screen will indicate if your Eevee will transform into either an Umbreon or Espeon.

How to evolve Eevee into Leafeon and Glaceon

In this instance, the clever use of a name proves effective yet moreover, the detailed technique provided can be repeated multiple times at your discretion.

Initially, to catch a Leafeon, you’ll require an item known as a Mossy Lure. If your preference is for a Glaceon instead, then you’ll need a Glacial Lure. These lure modules can be bought from the shop, but they may also be obtained as rewards from Field Research tasks.

Using specific lures at a PokéStop can not only draw certain Pokémon but also impact your Eevee’s evolution. By keeping nearby, you can evolve your Eevee into either Leafeon with a Mossy Lure or Glaceon using the Glacial Lure.

In the game Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, you could make Eevee evolve by reaching a certain level while in close proximity to either a Moss Stone or an Ice Stone.

How to evolve Eevee into Sylveon

Sylveon is the latest Eevee evolution, first introduced in Pokémon X & Y in 2013.

You can acquire Sylveon by using a special method, either by giving it the nickname ‘Kira’ or by increasing its affection level.

To achieve this, you need to build a strong bond with your Eevee, which requires amassing 70 buddy hearts. You can earn these hearts by engaging in various activities together, such as walking, playing games, participating in battles, taking photos, discovering new locations or even treating your Eevee to something special.
