As a seasoned video content creator and an ardent fan of both Microsoft and Clipchamp, I’m thrilled to hear about their upcoming integration. The idea of using Copilot to create a video project with a bespoke script, stock footage, music, and other assets is nothing short of revolutionary! It’s like having my very own video production assistant, which will undoubtedly save me countless hours of manual work.
Microsoft’s Copilot is set to receive a video editing capability through a fresh partnership with Clipchamp. As per the Microsoft 365 development plan, Copilot will soon respond to text instructions by generating a Clipchamp video project complete with a script, stock footage, background music, and additional content. Once created, you’ll have the chance to edit this project to tailor your content as desired.
“According to our plan, Copilot will soon gain access to video creation abilities provided by Clipchamp. Simply input your instructions, and Clipchamp will craft a custom script, secure premium quality footage, and produce a project complete with music, voiceovers, text overlays, transitions, and more. Continue editing, exporting, and sharing your video by opening the draft in the Clipchamp app. This feature is particularly useful for creating informational videos, video messaging, tutorials, demos, and presentations.”
The team at Neowin found an entry on the roadmap suggesting that the Copilot feature might be released as early as September 2024. However, keep in mind that all dates on Microsoft 365’s roadmap are flexible, so you may need to wait a bit more for the integration of Copilot and Clipchamp.

Clipchamp, a user-friendly video editing tool owned by Microsoft, is included in Windows 11 and accessible online and on iOS devices too. Primarily designed for basic edits that utilize its drag-and-drop interface, it can also handle more intricate video projects. In my regular routine, I employ Clipchamp to compile highlights for my American football team, a tool that often sparks inquiries about the software I prefer.
The free edition of Clipchamp allows for exporting videos in 1080p resolution and offers a variety of features suitable for users who don’t have to pay. While it may not be as robust or flexible as software like Da Vinci Resolve, it’s primarily designed for casual video editing.
