Deadpool & Wolverine: Ryan Reynolds Campaigns for Wesley Snipes' Blade to Get "Logan-Like Send Off"

As a fan who’s been following the Marvel Cinematic Universe since its inception, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia and excitement at Ryan Reynolds‘ recent tweet about Wesley Snipes and Blade. The man played a pivotal role in setting the stage for the Fox Marvel Universe and the MCU as we know it today.

Ryan Reynolds aims to give Wesley Snipes and Blateto similar film adaptations as Hugh Jackman experienced in “Logan”. The team-up of Deadpool and Wolverine, titled “Deadpool & Wolverine“, marks the first X-Men movie released under Marvel Studios, with earlier productions being handled by 20th Century Fox. Prior to playing Deadpool, Reynolds worked alongside Snipes in “Blade: Trinity” in 2004 as Hannibal King. In “Deadpool & Wolverine“, Reynolds reintroduced Snipes’ character, Blade. Now, Reynolds is acknowledging the significant role Snipes played in setting the stage for the Fox Marvel Universe and the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

I’m absolutely thrilled to echo Ryan Reynolds’ sentiment: It’s hard to imagine the Marvel Universe without Blade paving the way! He truly is our Marvel pops. Let’s retweet this tribute, reminiscent of Logan’s farewell. #DeadpoolAndWolverine

I can’t imagine the Marvel Universe, as we know it today, without Blade paving the way and setting the stage. He’s truly our Marvel Dad. Let’s honor him with a farewell fitting of Wolverine and Deadpool. #DeadpoolAndWolverine Retweet this!

Will Wesley Snipes return to the MCU as Blade?

Currently, Marvel Studios is progressing with a fresh take on the _Blade_ film, featuring Mahershala Ali instead of Wesley Snipes. Although Kevin Feige didn’t mention _Blade_ during Marvel Studios’ lineup of 2025 movies at SDCC, the movie still retains its release date of November 7, 2025. The project was initially announced at Marvel’s Hall H panel in 2019, with Mahershala Ali making an appearance wearing a _Blade_ cap. Since then, various directors and screenwriters have come on board only to depart the project, casting uncertainty over its progress.

As a longtime fan of Marvel movies, I’m always eager for any news about upcoming releases. The recent updates to Marvel Studios’ theatrical release calendar have certainly piqued my interest. Having grown up watching the Avengers and other superheroes come to life on the big screen, it feels like I’ve been following their adventures for a lifetime.

What is Deadpool & Wolverine about?

In the upcoming Marvel Studios film featuring Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), titled “Deadpool & Wolverine,” Deadpool is set to alter the course of the Marvel Cinematic Universe alongside Wolverine. The movie additionally includes Matthew Macfadyen as Paradox, Emma Corrin as Cassandra Nova, and a return from previous Deadpool cast members such as Morena Baccarin as Vanessa Carlysle, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Stefan Kapi?i? as Piotr Rasputin/Colossus, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Rob Delaney as Peter, and Lewis Tan as Shatterstar. Aaron Stanford is set to reprise his role from the X-Men film series as Pyro, with rumors of Jennifer Garner returning as Elektra Natchios.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m excited to share that I’ve been part of an incredible team that brought ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ to life! Kevin Feige, Ryan Reynolds, Shawn Levy, and Lauren Shuler Donner were the producers, while Louis D’Esposito, Wendy Jacobson, Mary McLaglen, Josh McLagler, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, George Dewey, and Simon Kinberg served as executive producers. The script was penned by the talented trio of Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Zeb Wells, and Shawn Levy.
