It may not offer a flawless gameplay experience, and there are instances where it seems hindered by control, visual, and similar issues. Nevertheless, if you’re looking for a chilling experience, this game is more than capable of giving you a serious fright.
In “The Mortuary Assistant,” you assume the role of Rebecca, a determined young woman who secures employment at the eerie River Fields Mortuary, despite its chilling reputation and local rumors. Initially, she believes this to be just another ordinary job. However, things take a darker turn when her boss imprisons her within the mortuary at night, claiming that an ominous entity haunts the premises and has targeted Rebecca. As the nights pass, she must continue her work, identify the nature of the tormenting demon, and find a way to exorcise it before it completely overpowers her soul.

For instance, embalming a body involves a series of steps that take you through various areas of the facility as you work with diverse equipment and items, including examining physical signs on the body, draining blood, sewing jaws shut, and more. As a passionate fan, I must admit that while the game offers an engaging experience, its control system leaves much to be desired. Having only played it on a console, I can’t help but wonder if playing on PC with a mouse and keyboard would have made things smoother. The controls, especially basic movements and camera adjustments, often feel cumbersome and imprecise. This inconvenience extends to tasks like picking up and using objects, which are frequent in the game, and interacting with environmental elements.

With its console release, we hope it will find even wider success. Despite some technical issues and control hiccups that can make gameplay feel a bit awkward at times, “The Mortuary Assistant” is essentially a great horror game.
