As a devoted fan with over a decade of RPG adventures under my belt, I can confidently say that Monolith Soft’s next move is something I’m eagerly anticipating. With Tetsuya Takahashi at the helm, it’s highly likely we’ll be seeing another installment in the Xenoblade Chronicles series.
It has been over a year since Monolith Soft launched the Future Redeemed expansion pack for Xenoblade Chronicles 3, and it appears they are now shifting their focus to a fresh endeavor. The Japanese studio is currently hiring for a new RPG project, hinting at several new challenges compared to their previous works. It’s unclear whether this will be a new installment in the Xenoblade Chronicles franchise or something entirely different. Sadly, it seems we may have to wait a while longer for more details!
Although the tone of the quote implies that the upcoming game from Monolith Soft might be entirely fresh and distinct, there’s a possibility it could be Xenoblade Chronicles 4. This assumption is supported by the fact that Tetsuya Takahashi, the director of this RPG series, has confirmed his involvement in it. Last year, the soundtrack for Xenoblade Chronicles 3 included a message from the creator, hinting at potential changes. Takahashi expressed a desire to create something unexpected yet enjoyable, which aligns well with the idea that this new game might present numerous novel challenges.
Over the past 14 years, I’ve found myself deeply immersed in the captivating world of the Xenoblade Chronicles series on various Nintendo consoles – from Wii to Switch. This epic saga has not only become a mainstay but also gained a significant following, with appearances in the Super Smash Bros. franchise as well. With rumors swirling about a new Nintendo system launching before March 2025, I can’t help but feel that another installment of Xenoblade Chronicles could very well be in the works, ready to continue our adventure.
Regardless of what Monolith Soft unveils next, RPG enthusiasts worldwide are eagerly anticipating it, given the acclaim that Takahashi has earned since his work on Xenogears. Since then, he’s built a dedicated fanbase, and expectations run high for his future projects. Here’s hoping his upcoming game maintains the high-quality standard fans have come to associate with him and Monolith Soft!
