According to reports made by Larissa Schaerer, the committee head, she stated to The Sun that “Her actions have been causing an uncomfortable environment within Team Paraguay. We appreciate her complying with our instructions, as she chose on her own not to stay overnight in the Athletes’ Village.”
According to The Sun, it was reported that swimmer Luana did not spend the night at the Olympic Village with her teammates, instead choosing to explore Paris and visit Disneyland, following her elimination from the women’s 100m butterfly semi-final heats.
“In swimming: Thank you for giving me the opportunity to imagine. You’ve shown me how to battle, strive, endure, make sacrifices, maintain discipline, and learn countless other valuable lessons.”
She went on to say, “I shared a piece of myself with you, something I wouldn’t trade for anything the world has to offer because I lived through some of the most remarkable moments of my life with you. Following her loss, Luana announced her retirement from swimming.
