Deadpool & Wolverine: Ryan Reynolds Thanks Dafne Keen

Deadpool & Wolverine: Ryan Reynolds Thanks Dafne Keen

As a long-time Marvel enthusiast who has witnessed the evolution of these iconic characters over the years, I must say that the reunion of Deadpool, Wolverine, and X-23 (played by the brilliant Dafne Keen) is nothing short of exhilarating!

As a die-hard Marvel fan with a soft spot for the gritty and introspective, I can’t help but feel excited at the prospect of Dafne Keen reprising her role as X-23 in an upcoming project. Ryan Reynolds, who played Deadpool alongside Wolverine, has been showering praise on Keen this week, highlighting her role in Logan as a major plot point that mirrors our own world too accurately.

“In #DeadpoolAndWolverine, when Dafne Keen appears, she illuminates the central essence of the movie. Seeing Dafne and Hugh together is a moment that makes me pinch myself, Ryan Reynolds confesses. The film builds upon the foundation laid by the LOGAN movie, a true masterpiece and giant in its category. @slevydirect and I have been working with her tirelessly during post-production, including editing and sound mixing, for quite some time now. Just three days ago, as we watched the gag reel, I still get excited seeing her in those sunglasses.”

In their ongoing success at the box office, Deadpool and Wolverine are generating quite a buzz. Recently, Dafne Keen, the actress who played X-23 in the blockbuster, was interviewed on ComicBook’s Phase Zero podcast. A part of that interview has become particularly popular online, where Keen discussed her character’s continuity with Logan. She explained that while her character is grown-up, it’s essentially the same one we all know from the movie. Interestingly, she mentioned that Ryan Reynolds, Shawn, Levy, and the creative team had already anticipated most of her questions, which boosted their confidence in the film they were producing.

In Keen’s words, “They are exceptionally smart individuals. They had already grasped the concept, leaving me feeling like an overzealous actor asking questions such as ‘And what about this?’ to which they would respond thoughtfully, ‘Oh, we hadn’t considered that…’ However, they were well-prepared and had answers for everything. I was taken aback, wondering things like ‘So how long has it been?’, ‘Am I a Variant?’, and ‘What’s going on?’ To which they explained, ‘No, you’re not a Variant. You accompanied the children for some years before being affected. And, you’ve spent the last few years in the TVA.'”

“After spending time in America and Canada, you’ve adopted their speech patterns and have become quite intelligent. Your language skills improved while with Logan, making you quite clever. You no longer have a distinct accent; you blend in seamlessly. To you, this person is like your father, Logan, whom you haven’t seen in years. Meeting them again must feel something like ‘Wow, here is my long-lost dad.'”
