Netflix’s One Piece: Rurouni Kenshin Team Joins Star Mackenyu for Season 2

Netflix's One Piece: Rurouni Kenshin Team Joins Star Mackenyu for Season 2

As a die-hard fan of both anime and live-action adaptations, I can hardly contain my excitement as Mackenyu, the man behind Roronoa Zoro in the One Piece live-action series, reunites with the action team responsible for the Rurouni Kenshin films!

Today, Mackenyu has gained significant recognition for portraying Roronoa Zoro in the live-action adaptation of “One Piece,” but this isn’t his first time playing an anime character. Previously, Mackenyu has been part of various adaptations such as “Fullmetal Alchemist,” “Knights of The Zodiac,” “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable,” and “Chihayafuru.” Among his notable roles is that of the antagonist Enishi Yukishiro in the live-action Rurouni Kenshin films, and it appears that the same production team from those projects is heading to the Grand Line.

In reference to the second season of the live-action adaptation of “One Piece” on Netflix, production has commenced, preparing to reintroduce the Straw Hat Pirates and their ensuing journeys across the Grand Line. Previously, Mackenyu, who plays Zoro, expressed his excitement for the upcoming season and suggested that the battles ahead would be even more demanding, stating, “I didn’t find it too tough. I was anticipating much harder fights for Zoro in this first season, but it’s still the beginning. We can improve significantly in season 2 and beyond, hopefully.”

Rurouni Kenshin x One Piece: A Meeting of Live-Action Worlds

In an updated announcement, it’s been made official that Mackenyu will work alongside the action crew behind the Rurouni Kenshin film series. These films, often praised for their high-quality live-action adaptations of anime stories, owe much of their success to the thrilling action sequences they offer. As Netflix seems poised to stick closely to the original source material for the upcoming second season, fans can expect a wealth of exciting action scenes as Luffy and his team venture to places like Loguetown, Drum Island, Little Garden, and Alabasta.

For the upcoming season two, the young performers reprising their roles as the Straw Hat Pirates is just one part of the exciting changes. Throughout the year, Netflix has unveiled significant casting updates. Among the new additions are Daniel Lasker as Mr. 9, Camrus Johnson as Mr. 5, Jazzara Jaslyn as Miss Valentine, David Dastmalchian as Mr. 3, Clive Russell as Crocus, Werner Coetser as Dorry, Brendan Murray as Brogy, Callum Kerr as Smoker, Julia Rehwald as Tashigi, Rob Colletti as Wapol, and Ty Keogh as Dalton. These are the new faces joining the cast so far.

As an ardent fan of the live-action Grand Line, I strongly recommend keeping up-to-date with the happenings. Join me and Team Anime at ComicBook, where we share the most recent news about the live-action adaptation of One Piece!
