As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of Marvel movie marathoning under my belt, let me tell you, the latest installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Deadpool & Wolverine, has been an absolute rollercoaster ride! The interwoven connections to past movies have added a fresh layer of intrigue that keeps fans like me on our toes.
Viewers worldwide are now appreciating the Marvel multiverse in an innovative way following the release of Deadpool & Wolverine, as this Marvel Studios film surpassed expectations and established some remarkably zany connections to previous movies. One significant surprise appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine was Chris Evans’ Johnny Storm / Human Torch from Fox’s Fantastic Four films of the 2000s. Prior to its premiere, there were rumors that the film would feature a cameo from an actor from Fox’s poorly-received 2015 reboot, Fan4stic. In a recent chat with Collider, franchise star and producer Ryan Reynolds disclosed discussions about incorporating an actor from Fant4stic, but the complications of licensing for the R-rated film prevented it from happening.
Reynolds clarified, “Indeed, that aspect was included. However, it’s crucial not to mislead people by associating Chris Evans with such actions. The ‘license to thrill’ is his alone. Additionally, we were conscious of the budget constraints while producing the film. We knew it was rated R and we didn’t want an expense that we couldn’t justify. I never want a budget that feels overwhelming or unmanageable. Adding more props and characters would only make the cost escalate, moving us closer to a point of no return.”
