Five Nights at Freddy's: Into the Pit Releases Early After Accidental Early Release in Japan

As a gamer with over two decades under my belt, I’ve seen it all – from pixelated classics to modern marvels, and everything in between. But few franchises have managed to capture my heart like Five Nights at Freddy’s (FNaF). So when I heard about the tenth anniversary celebrations, my excitement was palpable, akin to a kid on Christmas morning.

As a hardcore gamer, I can’t contain my excitement! Tomorrow, August 8th, marks the tenth anniversary of Five Nights at Freddy’s, and they’ve been dropping some amazing announcements, interviews, and reveals since August 1st. Steel Wool Studios unveiled their new mainline game, Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic, which is slated for release in 2025, as well as a collaboration with Dead by Daylight!

Following an early launch in Japan, Mega Cat Studios decided to make the game available in its entirety right away. So, “Into the Pit” is now live on Steam! Priced at $19.99 USD, Mega Cat Studio also shared a press statement alongside the release.

“The wait is over; Five Nights at Freddy’s: Into the Pit is NOW LIVE! On behalf of the Mega Cat team, we cannot thank the community enough for the incredible support. We created this game as fans, for fans. From one FNaF to another, it’s a dream come true to see so many fans reciprocate the passion that we’ve poured into creating the game. Prepare to be terrified as you descend into the depths of the unknown and uncover the sinister secrets that lurk within.”

In the one-player, stealth-based 2D adventure titled “Five Nights at Freddy’s: Into the Pit,” players will have to hone their stealth abilities to remain unseen and move quickly through the deserted pizzeria. They’ll need to navigate between different time periods to collect clues and avoid the dangers lurking behind. This game is based on the first story from the “Fazbear Frights” novel series, making it a fitting choice given that Five Nights at Freddy’s just turned 10 years old.

The trend in Five Nights at Freddy’s games appears to be moving content originally from books like novels, comics, and graphic novels into the video games themselves. Steel Wool Studios’ upcoming game next year will feature a main character who first appeared in the Tales from the Pizzaplex novels, while Secret of the Mimic might provide fans with the Mimic’s backstory as the earliest game in the timeline.
