As a seasoned fan of the Dune franchise, I’ve been eagerly awaiting any new developments since my first read of Frank Herbert’s masterpiece back in the 80s. The anticipation has been akin to a Fremen waiting for the right moment to strike at an enemy Sardaukar, but with less sandworms and more keyboards!
At the upcoming Gamescom event, Dune: Awakening will make its appearance, and earlier confirmation of this was given in the game’s first Communient Signal (their community update/blog post/newsletter). However, some further details about the game’s involvement have been disclosed by Geoff Keighley. In his recent post on X (previously Twitter), he stated, “Dune Awakening will be at [Gamescom] during Opening Night Live on Tuesday August 20.” The announcement concludes with a suggestion for viewers to tune in to the live stream on August 20th at 11a PT / 2p ET / 8p CEST, where they can expect an extended demonstration of gameplay.
As a passionate fan, I can’t help but notice that Funcom developers have casually dropped a hint about their presence at Gamescom, alongside other recent events they’ve attended. Here’s what I’ve gathered from their latest post: “Things have been buzzing around our Arrakis outpost lately with the release of the cinematic trailer, the Dune: Awakening Direct, and a trip to Twitchcon Rotterdam.” They continue by stating that there’s more to come, and I can’t wait for Gamescom where we’ll get to see even more gameplay!
Funcom’s team has clarified what players can anticipate from upcoming newsletters regarding the game. In other words, they have explained what kind of information players can look forward to receiving through future newsletters.
