Will Stardew Valley 1.6 come to Switch? Console and mobile release explained

As a seasoned gamer with a heart full of nostalgia for the golden era of farming simulators, I must say that the long-awaited Stardew Valley 1.6 update has been a rollercoaster ride of anticipation and patience. The tantalizing prospect of mayonnaise-infused gameplay has kept us all on the edge of our virtual tractors, eagerly waiting for this monumental update to grace our consoles.

The significant update for Stardew Valley, version 1.6, along with its extensive modifications, was introduced to the PC edition back in March. As of now, there’s been no indication yet that this update will be released on console platforms.

As the creator, ConcernedApe, explains, there’s a valid explanation behind the delay: Migrating such a substantial update to console and mobile systems requires a considerable amount of time.

Absolutely, the update known for its patch notes allowing you to consume mayonnaise is jam-packed with numerous large and minor adjustments. It’s not surprising then, that this extensive overhaul has taken a while to be adapted for console platforms, such as the Nintendo Switch.

Is it expected that Stardew Valley will be released on Nintendo Switch with the 1.6 update, given the information available about its release on consoles and various platforms apart from the PC version?

Will Stardew Valley 1.6 come to Switch? Console and mobile release explained

I’m thrilled to confirm that I’ve heard from the developers themselves that the much-anticipated Stardew Valley 1.6 update is indeed in the works for the Nintendo Switch. While an exact release date hasn’t been shared yet, rest assured, it will be making its way to all consoles and platforms eventually.

Initially, the game’s version 1.6 update debuted on its PC version way back in March 2024. The plan was that this PC update would come out first, with console and other platform versions, like the one for Nintendo Switch, following at a later stage.

A while later, there’s yet no indication of when Stardew Valley 1.6 will be out for Nintendo Switch or any other system. Instead of getting upset, it’s wiser to give the developers space to work on it and ensure its quality.

When could Stardew Valley 1.6 come to Switch? Release date prediction

Since we haven’t received any formal announcement about a release date yet, it’s challenging for us to specify when Stardew Valley 1.6 will be available on Switch (and other platforms). However, fingers crossed, it might launch by the end of 2024.

According to ConcernedApe’s recent post on their social media platform (previously called Twitter), they have shared updates about the project a few times, with the latest one being on July 22nd. In this latest update, they mentioned that the ports and next PC version are still in development. They acknowledged that the process is taking longer than expected, stating that it’s constantly on their mind.

“Day by day, I’m dedicating my efforts to the development of the mobile version. I’ll share updates as soon as there’s significant progress, like an official release date. Enjoy your summer!”

Earlier, ConcernedApe shared on X that they understand console and mobile players are anxiously waiting for version 1.6, and they are putting in maximum effort to get the ports up and running quickly. Note that the ports need additional work compared to the PC version before they can be released.

As soon as ConcernedApe unveils the launch date for the Stardew Valley 1.6 patch on Nintendo Switch and other consoles, we’ll make sure to update this post promptly.
