While there isn’t any fresh content in this version, the focus appears to be on enhancing the game’s quality-of-life and gameplay mechanics, making the endgame and public lobby experiences smoother. Almost everything included in this update seems like a welcome improvement.

As a dedicated gamer with countless hours spent in various titles, I must admit that I find myself deeply entrenched in the world of The First Descendant 1.07. This latest update seems to be catering predominantly towards those who enjoy endgame content, which, let’s face it, is where most of us spend a significant chunk of our gaming lives.

Besides these enhancements, Infiltration Operations in Difficulty Level have seen several upgrades to the additional modifiers players can choose to boost their chances of getting rewards. For instance, Nexon has eliminated the highly disadvantageous “Grappling Hook disabled” and “Jump disabled” options permanently. Moreover, Nexon has announced that The First Descendant’s Season 1 update will streamline Infiltration Operations by reducing the number of progression hurdles such as occupation objectives and prioritizing elimination objectives instead.

The challenging Frost Walker Intercept Battle, known for its toughness, is being modified to become more achievable when playing with a random group of players in a public lobby. Nexon is altering the Colossi’s special mechanism for this change. Furthermore, once you complete an Intercept Battle, you won’t receive damage from the dangerous zones of the Void, allowing easier use of the Reconstruction Device and collecting your rewards.

In the upcoming updates, Special Operations will automatically shift idle players to the “Cancel” segment during interim evaluations (at last, some advancement in this area). Additionally, Void Fusion Reactors will now have less health for enemies and will drop ammunition more frequently. Lastly, Weapon Mastery points will still be earned correctly when wielding unique Descendant weapons. All these improvements are exciting, but there’s one more thrilling development to share.

Since the launch of The First Descendant, players have frequently voiced a concern about the inventory system. Nexon has addressed this by adding numerous clear icons that allow players to easily assess the features and attributes of their equipment, particularly Reactors. Additionally, following the 1.07 update, the tooltip display will be more instantaneous. As a tech enthusiast who’s been pouring my thoughts into articles about enhancing The First Descendant, I’m thrilled to see some of my suggestions being put into practice by Nexon! While there’s still a long way to go, it’s clear that the studio values community input when it comes to refining their game. They’re not just working on The First Descendant; they’re collaborating with us, the players, making this journey toward “spectacular” even more exciting!

1.07 update for The First Descendant serves as proof of their community-focused approach, which is somewhat unusual for live service games. While it’s encouraging to see developers actively addressing player feedback and striving to improve their game, this practice is unfortunately not common among many live service titles. The First Descendant is looking like one of the top Xbox games, but there’s a point in the 1.07 teaser on Nexon’s website that they mention which isn’t so favorable.

To create a Character or weapon in The First Descendant, you need Crystallization Catalysts to set the Socket Classes (with each Type lowering the cost of installing certain modules). Each Character has 12 Sockets and every weapon has 10 Sockets, and upgrading each individual Socket involves leveling that Character or weapon to Lv. 40, followed by resetting the level using a precious and hard-to-get Catalyst. It’s a lengthy process to fully develop a character, but it can be incredibly gratifying when achieved. The downside is that once you’ve built a Character or weapon, your options for changing them will be quite limited.

Each time I attempt to designate a novel type for a Socket, it requires swapping out the Crystallization Catalyst, which significantly hinders my ability to experiment with diverse builds and configurations. In the recent 1.07 update teaser, Nexon has confirmed that the existing system remains unchanged, yet it continues to lack build diversity in The First Descendant. Nevertheless, my fellow community members and I have already put forth a potential solution for this issue.

Nexon, let’s modify the game so that after a player has fully upgraded a Descendant or weapon and assigned a type to all sockets, the item reaches its maximum prestige level. This means that all sockets will be freely reassignable. If a player spends numerous hours perfecting and resetting a Descendant up to 12 times, they should then have the flexibility to explore various modules and build possibilities. Currently, using a Catalyst on an item limits you to modules of the same socket type, making the three loadout options entirely useless. I hope this change is implemented in an upcoming update.
