Copilot+ PCs are getting their biggest outing yet with the world's greatest football (or soccer if you prefer) club at Wembley Stadium

What you need to know

  • Copilot+ PCs are getting a very public outing as a back of shirt sponsor at this weekend’s Community Shield between Manchester United and Manchester City at Wembley.
  • Qualcomm, Manchester United’s front of shirt sponsor, has nominated Microsoft and Copilot+ PCs to be featured on the back of the shirt for the curtain raiser of the new English season.
  • Manchester is red and always will be red.

As a lifelong Manchester United fan and a tech enthusiast, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and intrigue as I witness the unique partnership between my beloved club and Microsoft’s Copilot+ PCs. The idea of seeing my team’s back adorned with a tech giant’s logo might seem odd to some, but for me, it’s another testament to the ever-evolving world of football and technology merging in fascinating ways.

Without revealing it earlier, I am a die-hard supporter of Manchester United, a team widely recognized in football circles worldwide, especially in England where they hold the record for the most domestic titles. For those unfamiliar with the sport, you might know it as soccer, and for Americans following along, you’ve probably heard their name before.

In any event, during this current football season, Manchester United have changed their shirt sponsor to Qualcomm, specifically featuring the Snapdragon logo. The English season kicks off on Saturday, August 10th at Wembley Stadium with a Community Shield game against city rivals Manchester City (some might boo). For this special occasion, there’s a new emblem on the players’ jerseys.

Microsoft and Copilot+ PCs are coming along for the ride.

Qualcomm has chosen Microsoft as the partner to design the Community Shield jerseys, but usually, English Premier League teams do not have extra logos at the back. This raises questions about whether this collaboration is unique or if it will recur in the future.

As an analyst, I find myself observing that the Snapdragon X Plus and X Elite devices are currently holding firm with their Copilot+ PCs, presumably due to some agreement with Microsoft. However, based on my previous observations from the initial release of laptops, it’s no laughing matter. The Copilot+ suite, while available, appears rather sparse at present, with its headline feature, Windows Recall, mysteriously absent from the scene following Microsoft’s decision to rework it.

Certainly, it’s clear whom I’ll be supporting, and having Copilot+ PCs on my side is simply an added advantage. If you share my enthusiasm, why not join me in cheering on the red team?
