D23: Marvel Studios Confirms Iron Fist

As a seasoned gamer and long-time Marvel fanatic with over two decades of comics under my belt, I must say that the return of Iron Fist to the Marvel Cinematic Universe has me both excited and intrigued. While Finn Jones’ portrayal of Danny Rand was met with mixed reactions, his enthusiasm for reprising the role in a Heroes for Hire TV series has me hoping we might see a more polished version of the character.

It appears that Iron Fist could be making a comeback in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. During the keynote panel for Marvel Animation at D23, which was hosted by Brandon Davis from ComicBook, Brad Winderbaum’s team revealed the initial glimpse of their upcoming series titled “Black Panther: Eyes of Wakanda“. This four-episode event series hinted at the introduction of at least one version of The Living Weapon within the MCU.

At the discussion, creators of the show hinted at more heroes originating from hidden urban areas, whose names were also emblematic titles and featured a radiant fist symbol. Similar to many superhero identities, Iron Fist has been passed down to various characters across Marvel Comics history. Consequently, it remains unclear whether the character appearing in the series is Finn Jones’ version from the Defenders Universe or a distinct one derived from the comic book lore.

Is Finn Jones returning as Iron Fist?

It remains undetermined which iteration of Iron Fist we’ll see in the upcoming series, but Jones himself has expressed his desire to reprise the role.

In 2022, Jones shared with ComicBook his enthusiasm for reprising his role as the character. He believes there’s much potential for growth and development. Specifically, he proposes a Heroes for Hire TV series as an ideal platform for their return. Jones finds this approach the most engaging and enjoyable way to reintegrate these characters. He cherished working with Mike and appreciated the camaraderie between Danny and Luke on screen. He thinks this could be a captivating creative direction, and he’s eager to resume portraying Iron Fist, pushing the character further, and creating an exceptional version of the Iron Fist character.

Marvel Studios has planned the following movie releases: “Captain America: A New World” on February 14, 2025, followed by “Thunderbolts” on May 5, 2025, then “The Fantastic Four: Initial Footsteps” on July 25, 2025. Next, we have “Blade” set for November 7, 2025, and then “Avengers: Armageddon” on May 1, 2026. Lastly, expect “Avengers: Secret Wars” on May 7, 2027.

Hey there, fellow gamers! I’m super excited to share some upcoming Marvel TV news. Starting in September, we’ve got “Agatha All Along” premiering on Disney+. If you can’t wait that long, fear not! “Daredevil: Born Again” is set to debut next March. As for Marvel Animation, they haven’t announced specific dates yet, but keep your eyes peeled for season 2 of “X-Men ’97” and the premiere of “Black Panther: Eyes of Wakanda.” Stay tuned!
