X-Men '97 Showrunner Pitches Blade 4 for Wesley Snipes

As a fan who has been following Wesley Snipes‘ Blade saga since its inception, I am absolutely thrilled at the prospect of seeing him back in action as the Daywalker. The idea of a team-up between Blade and Brother Voodoo sounds incredibly promising, especially if it follows the epic style of Akira Kurosawa films.

If Wesley Snipes reprises his role as Blade in the future, Beau DeMayo, who previously worked with Marvel Studios, has an idea for how such a movie could be structured. On a recent Sunday, DeMayo – creator of Marvel’s X-Men ’97 – shared his thoughts about a possible “Blade 4”. He proposed that this film could feature a collaboration between Blade and one of Marvel Comics’ renowned sorcerers, specifically Brother Voodoo. In DeMayo’s opinion, such a partnership would create a spellbinding cinematic experience on the big screen.

In a world where vampires mastered daylight walking and seized power, humans became their livestock, as stated by DeMayo on Twitter. However, Brother Voodoo, a member of the human resistance, discovers that #Blade was preserved or buried and brings him back to life. This way, they can team up to eliminate Varney and the Darkhold cult, aiming to eradicate all vampires. Approach this storytelling like a Kurosawa film.

Is Wesley Snipes returning as Blade?

Following his portrayal of Eric Brooks in a trilogy around the year 2000, Snipes left audiences surprised when he reprised the role in “Deadpool and Wolverine”. Subsequently, the lead actor of Deadpool, Ryan Reynolds, has been advocating for another Blade movie, much like Hugh Jackman did with Logan (2017).

“There wouldn’t be a Fox Marvel Universe or MCU without Blade paving the way first. He’s like Marvel’s father figure. Let’s retweet for a Logan-style farewell tribute. #DeadpoolAndWolverine”

Wesley Snipes has not spoken much about a possible future portrayal of Blade, except for expressing that he wholeheartedly supports Mahershala Ali taking on the role in upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe films.

“I publicly cheered him on, expressing my well-wishes and backing, even mentioning that some of the difficulties they’re encountering with the project shouldn’t be blamed on him… It’s not his fault. There are many complexities involved in bringing back Blade… You need a special mix to pull off the Blade character, man. Good luck. Regardless, you have my support.”
