Freaky Friday 2 New Title Revealed at D23, Manny Jacinto's Character Revealed

As a gamer who grew up with Disney movies shaping my formative years, the announcement of Freakier Friday at this year’s D23 event sent me back to those nostalgic times. The original Freaky Friday was one of my favorites, and revisiting Tess and Anna’s story with Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis was a treat I never knew I needed.

At this year’s D23 event, a celebration of all things Disney including its parks, live-action movies, animation, music, and more, things took an unusual turn. On the film front, sneak peeks were given for upcoming Disney productions such as “Zootopia 2”, the live-action remake of “Lilo & Stitch”, and a progress report on the sequel to the movie “Freaky Friday” starring Lindsey Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis.

In simpler terms, Disney has given us a brief overview of the upcoming movie titled “Freakier Friday“. The story unfolds years after Tess (Curtis) and Anna (Lohan) experienced an identity mix-up. Now, Anna has a daughter and is on the verge of gaining a stepdaughter. As they face the numerous complexities that arise when two families blend, it seems that fate may repeat itself, as the description hints at another instance of the unusual event. Filming is ongoing, with a projected release date in 2025.

As a child of the ’90s, I have fond memories of watching Disney movies and one that stands out the most for me is “Freaky Friday”. The 1995 remake featuring Shelley Long and Gaby Hoffmann was my first introduction to this magical tale of a mother-daughter swap. I remember giggling at their hilarious predicament, cheering for them as they navigated through each other’s lives, and learning valuable lessons about empathy and understanding. When I heard that Lindsay Lohan would be taking on the lead roles in 2003, I was thrilled to see a modern take on this classic story. Now, with the new logo incorporating elements from both versions, it brings back memories of my childhood and reminds me of the impact Disney had on shaping my love for movies and storytelling. The various iterations of “Freaky Friday” hold a special place in my heart and I’m excited to see how this beloved franchise continues to evolve.

As a hardcore gamer, let me tell you, things are about to get spookier! The much-anticipated movie “Things just got freakier. #FreakierFriday” starring none other than Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan is finally hitting the big screens in 2025. Buckle up for a chilling ride!

During an interview at D23, Curtis and Lohan spoke to Entertainment Weekly, revealing just a taste of what’s to come with the sequel. Earlier this year, The Acolyte star Manny Jacinto was cast in an undisclosed role but now who exactly he will play has been unveiled. “Manny plays Lindsay’s husband, but that’s as much as we can say,” Curtis said, with Lohan chiming in with praise for the 36-year-old star. “Manny is lovely, so funny.”

Apart from Curtis and Lohan reappearing in their roles from the 2003 film that catapulted Lohan’s career following “The Parent Trap,” Chad Michael Murray, a popular heartthrob from the early 2000s, is coming back as Jake, Anna’s former flame. A recent photo shows Murray striking a pose on a sleeker motorcycle compared to the one he rode in the original movie, still sporting his long blonde haircut and a noticeable amount of beard growth.

Mark Harmon, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Rosalind Chao are set to rejoin Murray, Lohan, and Curtis as they take on their roles once more. Julia Butters, who played a role in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Sophia Hammons from Under Wraps, and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan of Never Have I Ever will also be part of the star-studded cast.

In 2003, the movie “Freaky Friday” became a huge success, raking in more than $100 million globally. This marked a significant leap in Lindsay Lohan’s acting career to full-blown stardom. Shortly after, she appeared in “Mean Girls,” “Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen,” and later in “Herbie: Fully Loaded” and “Just My Luck” alongside Chris Pine. However, her acting career took a pause during the latter half of the 2010s. Recently, she has experienced a comeback, starring in Netflix’s “Falling for Christmas” and “Irish Wish.”
