Two Halloween Video Games Coming from Evil Dead: The Game Publisher

As a seasoned gamer with decades of chilling encounters under my belt, I can’t help but feel a palpable sense of excitement at the prospect of Michael Myers gracing our digital screens once again. With a career spanning over four decades, the Halloween franchise has been an integral part of my late-night terrors, and it’s long past due for another gaming outing.

In video gaming, several renowned horror villains have been adapted, but it’s been quite some time since Michael Myers starred in his own dedicated game. However, this is set to change as Boss Team Games is currently developing two games inspired by the iconic Halloween franchise. As per IGN’s reports, one of these games will be built using Unreal Engine 5 and will have series creator John Carpenter actively participating in its development. Yet, it appears that this game is still in its early stages, so a release might be some time away.

Speaking as an avid video game enthusiast, it gives me great pleasure to assist in reintroducing the terrifying figure of Michael Myers into this game. My aim is to give you a truly frightening experience. (Said Carpenter)

Boss Team Games is collaborating with Compass International Pictures, the proprietors of the Halloween movie series. It appears that these games will enable players to reenact scenes from the movies and assume roles as several iconic characters. While the term “film” suggests that these projects are exclusively based on the original movie, as demonstrated by Gun Media’s The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, it’s unclear whether this is the case. The rights to the Halloween franchise aren’t as complicated as they are for many other horror properties, but the future remains uncertain.

With the immense success of the Halloween series, it’s astonishing that Michael Myers hasn’t returned to the video game realm sooner! The franchise boasts captivating characters such as Laurie Strode and Samuel Loomis on the hero side, and villains like Corey Cunningham and Myers himself. Although an asymmetrical multiplayer game seems like a logical choice, it would be thrilling to explore a single-player experience akin to Alien: Isolation.

Based on the strategies that Boss Team Games intends to use when adapting the Halloween theme, numerous exciting possibilities arise for a potential game. Previously, the publisher was in charge of ‘Evil Dead: The Game’, but it didn’t perform as expected. However, Carpenter’s participation is encouraging since he has expressed his long-standing interest in video games and is currently working on an original Saber Interactive project called ‘Toxic Commando’. At the moment, no platforms have been revealed for either upcoming Halloween game.
