Solar Opposites Exec Pitches Their Dream Crossover With The Simpsons, Rick and Morty

As a longtime fan of animated series, I can wholeheartedly say that the latest Season 5 premiere of Solar Opposites on Hulu has been nothing short of fantastic. The show’s creators have consistently pushed the boundaries of absurdity and humor, making it a must-watch for any fan of adult-oriented cartoons.

The animated series “Solar Opposites” is back on Hulu for Season 5, and one of its creators has proposed an intriguing crossover idea for the show. Since the show’s debut on Hulu, it has been a massive success, so much so that it was already confirmed to return for Season 6 before the latest season even premiered. With each season introducing new and unexpected directions for the characters, it’s no surprise that crossovers could be in store given the show’s penchant for outlandish concepts.

In response to queries from The Hollywood Handle regarding potential future crossovers, Solar Opposites executive producer Mike McMahan shared that a Simpsons couch gag is their long-held dream. Moreover, they are receptive to the idea of collaborating with shows like Rick and Morty, as well as unexpected crossovers that fans may not anticipate. These could be possibilities hidden in the works, ripe for execution under ideal circumstances.

Solar Opposites Crossovers in the Future?

McMahan expressed his enthusiasm about creating a crossover episode with The Simpsons, which has long been a dream of theirs. He also shared their frequent interactions with the Rick and Morty team, expressing admiration for them. Interestingly, he considers Solar Opposites as being somewhat related to Rick and Morty from earlier times. Essentially, they are open to collaborating if it’s something the other team is interested in, given his past experiences working there and deep affection for those characters and their world.

For McMahan and his team, what makes a crossover appealing is something unexpected for Solar Opposites, which can be summarized as “the fun of executing an unlikely crossover that turns out to be funnier than anticipated. It’s like a peculiar blend with Muppet Babies or any other bizarre pairing where you think, ‘Really? That’s who they decided to team up with?’ And throughout the series, the Solar Opposites express confusion about why they’re doing this collaboration.”

McMahan proposed an intriguing blend of worlds for the Solar Opposites in a surprising Disney film: “Imagine if the Solar Opposites found themselves trapped in ‘Donald in Mathmagic Land,’ a Disney classic that educates Donald Duck about mathematics. It’s hilarious to envision them stuck in this educational cartoon they detest, refusing to learn but somehow picking up knowledge, driving them insane. Wow, that sounds fantastic! I can’t wait for such an amazing movie!”
