Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Campaign Gameplay Confirmed for Gamescom Opening Night Live

As an old-school gamer with decades of battlefield experiences under my belt, the announcement of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 at Gamescom Opening Night Live has sent shivers down my spine and a grin across my face. The Gulf War setting is a welcome throwback to the tactical grit of earlier titles in the series. And what’s more, it’s going rogue? Count me in!

Every year, in keeping with our usual custom, it’s expected that “Call of Duty” will make an appearance during Gamescom Opening Night Live. Geoff Keighley, the producer and host, announced on Twitter that we can look forward to witnessing the first campaign playthrough of “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6” at this event.

The specific events unfolding in the gameplay are yet to be revealed (however, it may include an in-game mission). It’s been confirmed that this first-person shooter’s narrative occurs immediately following Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and it takes place during the Gulf War. The storyline has the player and their associates turning rogue, responding to a perceived threat that appears to have infiltrated the CIA. Other operatives rally to their side, working covertly from the newly established Manor.

The sixth installment of Call of Duty: Black Ops is set to release on October 25th. This game will be playable on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC platforms. Additionally, it marks the first time a title from this franchise will be available for same-day streaming via Game Pass.

The opening event for Gamescom, known as Gamescom Opening Night Live, is scheduled for 11 AM Pacific Standard Time on August 20th. Among the titles confirmed to make an appearance at this showcase are “Monster Hunter Rise,” “Dune: Awakening,” “Marvel Snap Mystery,” “Civilization VII,” and “Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.” Additionally, Supermassive Games has hinted at a revelation for “The Dark Pictures Anthology: Directive 8020.” Keep an eye out for further updates until then.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is coming to @gamescom Opening Night Live on Tuesday, August 20.

Tune in for the first campaign play through reveal live from Germany.
