Fresh images have been unveiled ahead of time for Ludwig, an upcoming BBC weekly comedy-drama series featuring David Mitchell.
Introduced through the pictures is Mitchell’s character, John ‘Ludwig’ Taylor – a solitary puzzle creator who disguises himself as his twin brother James when he disappears, with the aim of finding him.
In this scenario, he must adjust to leading the Major Investigations Team at Cambridge, which is known for its busyness, as a well-respected Detective Chief Inspector (DCI), while also balancing his role as a family man.
Anna Maxwell Martin has been added to the cast as James’s wife, Lucy Betts-Taylor. The regular cast also includes Dipo Ola (We Hunt Together), Gerran Howell (Suspicion), Izuka Hoyle (Big Boys), Dylan Hughes (Malory Towers), Dorothy Atkinson (The Gold), Sophie Willan (Time) and Ralph Ineson (The Fantastic Four: First Steps).
During the upcoming episodes, notable guest appearances include Derek Jacobi (A Tale of Deceit), Felicity Kendal (Inside Number 9), Rose Ayling-Ellis (East End Stories), Karl Pilkington (A World Tour of an Idiot), Allan Mustafa (The Peacock Show), Paul Chahidi (From the Countryside) and Hammed Animashaun (Black Operations).
Ludwig is set to take on his initial leading part in a humor series since “Back,” which aired on Channel 4 from 2017 to 2021, where he collaborated with comedy partner Robert Webb. This show spanned two seasons during this period.
Currently, Martin can be seen in television shows like “A Spy Among Friends”, “Mandy”, and “A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder”.
Initially, upon hearing about Ludwig, Mitchell expressed his excitement, stating: “I’m thrilled to be part of a TV genre that has captivated me since I was ten years old and began watching the Miss Marple adaptations, featuring Joan Hickson, alongside my parents.”
