In July 2023, the show got a second season renewal. Filming of this new season started in April 2024, right here in Taunton, Massachusetts.
It’s been confirmed that Michael E Satrazemis, a director with credits like Fear the Walking Dead and The Ones Who Live, will team up with Adam Suschitzky, who will serve as the cinematographer, for their upcoming project.
The Walking Dead: Dead City cast – who could be back for season 2?
Here’s a list of the main cast members who could return for The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2:
- Lauren Cohan as Maggie Greene
- Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan
- Gaius Charles as Perlie Armstrong
- Željko Ivanek as The Croat
- Mahina Napoleon as Ginny
- Lisa Emery as The Dama
Absolutely, Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan are set to reprise their key characters, Maggie and Negan, respectively.
In the meantime, Mahina Napoleon reprises her role as Ginny, while notable actors like Gaius Charles, Željko Ivanek, and Lisa Emery also return to their characters.
Although Lucille isn’t a human character, the iconic baseball bat shares significance with Negan, as confirmed by Jeffrey Dean Morgan at San Diego Comic Con 2024. We can expect her to make a return for season 2!
In Hall H, Morgan confessed, “I get it, I was just as thrilled as you.” There’s a certain charm about her that captivates me… It transforms me into Negan.
He added that this season, “he has a love-hate relationship with her”.
What could be the plot of The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2?
As a movie critic, I can’t help but be intrigued by the upcoming season, with tantalizing hints about Negan’s fate. It appears that Maggie made a bold move at the end of last season, trading Negan for her son Hershel (Logan Kim) to The Dama (Lisa Emery), a formidable figure hailing from New York City. This exchange certainly doesn’t bode well for Negan, and I can hardly wait to see how this storyline unfolds!
In the second season, we can anticipate the narrative shifting towards “The Dama” and her organization, as Negan strives for liberty. Additionally, Gaius Charles’s character, Perlie Armstrong, is expected to have a more significant role.
According to Series creator Eli Jorné, the series will continue approximately half a year after the conclusion of season 1. Moreover, Charles hinted that “a conflict is approaching, and I’m gearing up to engage in battle and fight others in this impending war.”
Scott Gimple stated: “Season 2 appears to resemble season 1’s reset, as relationships between characters change unexpectedly, resulting in them standing on unfamiliar sides. To me, this is what makes it exciting. The storyline remains unpredictable, and each new season could potentially take us in a different direction. I find that one of the most intriguing aspects of this particular series.”
Charles also teased to Den of Geek that fans will “see a new side” of Negan – so buckle in!
How many episodes could The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2 consist of?
