Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics Trailer Highlights X-Men: Children of the Atom

As a seasoned gamer who can remember the days of arcades and the thrill of competing against friends in side-scrolling beat ’em ups, the announcement of Capcom’s Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics has me feeling like a kid in a candy store! The nostalgia is real with the trailer focusing on the game that started it all – X-Men: Children of the Atom.

Capcom made quite an impression by unveiling the upcoming release of Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics, due later this year for PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch. In a fresh new trailer, they’re highlighting the game that started the trend – X-Men: Children of the Atom. Take a look at it below.

Initially released for arcades in December 1994, the game titled “X-Men: Children of the Atom” made its debut with iconic characters such as Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm, and Iceman, both heroes and villains like Spiral, Omega Red, and Sentinel. This game pioneered several elements that later became common in other games, including Super Jumps enabling mid-air combos.

In this collection, players have two options: they can go to the Training Room to perfect their combos or explore the museum to check out development materials and enjoy the original soundtrack.

“X-Men: Children of the Atom” is just one of seven games in our collection, so keep an eye out for upcoming trailers showcasing the remaining ones. For more information on additional updates such as Custom Match options and rollback netcode, check them out here.
