As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I must say that the upcoming releases of Boss Team Games’ Halloween-themed games have me absolutely thrilled! Growing up in the 80s and 90s, I fondly remember the thrill of arcade gaming, and these new titles seem to capture that nostalgia perfectly.
After the recent declaration that Boss Team Games is set to publish two upcoming video games within the Halloween franchise, one of them has just been unveiled! The title is RetroRealms: Halloween, an arcade-style platformer where players embody Michael Myers as the main character. Additionally, RetroRealms: Ash vs. Evil Dead was announced, featuring Ash Williams battling various grotesque enemies. Both games are scheduled for release on October 18th and can be obtained separately or as a bundle in a physical collection for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox, and digitally on Steam.
Check out the page’s top for a trailer showcasing “RetroRealms: Halloween” and “RetroRealms: Ash vs. Evil Dead.” If you buy both games, you’ll enjoy a special perk: interchangeable main characters! That means Michael can join Ash’s game, while Ash can step into Michael’s world too. Additionally, there will be online leaderboards for both games, allowing players to battle it out for the highest scores. These games were developed by WayForward, a studio that may seem unconventional for horror titles, but they’ve proven their expertise with “The Mummy Demastered” released in 2017. This horror platformer was not only impressive, but many found it more entertaining than the Tom Cruise movie it was inspired by!
As a gamer, I’m excited to share that each standalone game will cost $24.99 for digital purchase, while both games will be sold together in a standard physical package for $49.99. For an enhanced experience, there’ll also be a collector’s edition available for $79.99, packed with a copy of the game, a VHS-inspired case, a Halloween poster, a set of trading cards, and a Michael Myers plush toy! Beyond the physical items in the collector’s version, you’ll find two additional playable characters: Laurie Strode and Kelly Maxwell. These downloadable characters come with their unique weapons, stories, and playing styles, a fitting addition given how distinct they are compared to Michael and Ash.
