- This means various balancing changes for New Game+, fixes for numerous crashes, and other assorted bug fixes.
- This patch also adds Adaptive Trigger support on PlayStation, Gyro aiming support on Switch, and the ability to unlink Microsoft Accounts on both platforms.
As someone who has spent countless hours immersed in the vibrant world of Grounded since its launch, I can confidently say that the recent 1.4.4 patch update from Obsidian Entertainment is like finding a hidden picnic in the backyard – a delightful surprise amidst the survival chaos!
In a significant move, Grounded made a notable impact when it was launched on various platforms together with its extensive final update. However, it seems that developers at Obsidian Entertainment aren’t fully wrapping up their work on this popular open-world survival game just yet. On Tuesday, they rolled out a fresh patch update for Grounded on all platforms, which includes numerous fixes and enhancements, aiming to provide a smoother gaming experience for everyone.
1.4.4 is the newest update for Grounded, offering balance adjustments, bug corrections, enhancements to performance and stability, as well as some exciting additions tailored for PlayStation and Nintendo Switch gamers. Regrettably, there’s no fresh game material in this release, but it’s a delightful bonus for those engrossed in the Backyard, whether they’re venturing anew or revisiting with New Game+.
As someone who has encountered countless software updates over the years, I understand that not everyone has the time or patience to read through lengthy explanations. If you’re short on time and just want to get the update installed, feel free to go ahead and do so immediately. However, if you’d like a more comprehensive understanding of what this update entails, I recommend scrolling down for a detailed overview. My personal preference is always to educate myself before making any changes to my system, but I understand that everyone has their own approach to software updates.
Better New Game+, better performance, better controls
Although Obsidian Entertainment is simultaneously developing Avowed, The Outer Worlds 2, State of Decay 3 in collaboration with Undead Labs, they are also devoting time to enhance Grounded. The latest update for Grounded, version 1.4.4, is now being distributed to players on Windows PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4|5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Game Pass subscribers.
In this update, the standout feature is adjustments to the balance for the New Game+ mode, which becomes available once you finish the main storyline. Firstly, all enemy damage multipliers have been lowered by a third, and MIX.Rs will now only increase the number of creatures they spawn by 10% per level in New Game+, as opposed to the previous 100%. There are also changes aimed at decreasing the likelihood of being instantly defeated and making boss battles more manageable overall.
A variety of issues that might lead to crashes have been addressed, along with numerous bug fixes and performance enhancements. Improvements have been made for both the PlayStation and Nintendo Switch platforms. For PlayStation 5 users, Adaptive Trigger functionality is now available with the DualSense controller, while Nintendo Switch players can opt for Gyro aiming controls using the JoyCons. Additionally, on both platforms, you can disconnect your Microsoft Account and log in with a different one if you prefer.
It’s a decent update for one of the best Xbox games, although I’m still a little sad we’ll likely never see new content get added to Grounded. Sure, this survival game is already bursting at the seams with things to do and is enjoying plenty of success across platforms, but you can’t blame me for being a tad greedy. If you want to scour the full changelog for Grounded 1.4.4, you can do so on the Grounded website.
