As a die-hard horror enthusiast who has spent countless nights huddled under blankets while watching slasher classics, I can barely contain my excitement for the upcoming Halloween Trilogy 4K Steelbook! Growing up, the original 1978 film was the stuff of legends among us scary movie aficionados, and the 2018 reboot breathed new life into Michael Myers and Laurie Strode’s chilling tale.
As a devoted horror enthusiast with a soft spot for the Halloween franchise, I am beyond thrilled about the upcoming video game adaptations this fall. The recent announcement has me eagerly anticipating the release of the Blumhouse Halloween trilogy in a 4K Steelbook edition. Being a collector myself, I appreciate the attention to detail in the cover design, featuring Michael Myers with a transparent slipcase that showcases the iconic knife and a reflection of Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis). The bonus features included, such as deleted scenes, gag reels, documentaries, and more, are an added bonus for me. Having grown up watching these films, I can’t wait to relive the terror all over again and delve deeper into the making of the trilogy. This collection is a must-have for any horror fan, and I will be eagerly waiting in line to grab my copy come fall!
The Steelbook Edition of the Halloween Trilogy in 4K is unique to Walmart and can be reserved ahead of time for $49.96. This price is only $5 higher than the standard 4K Blu-ray trilogy available on Amazon. The launch date is scheduled for October 8th, making it a great fit for any horror movie marathons you may have planned. Important to note that this is a limited edition release, so when it’s sold out, it won’t be restocked.
In case you’re not aware, Blumhouse Productions resurrected the Halloween franchise with a fresh trilogy by David Gordon Green, which began with the 2018 film. This storyline is set 40 years after the original movie and features Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode, a character who has lived in constant fear since the first film and has been gearing up for Michael Myers’ anticipated return. Rumors circulated last year that Blumhouse Productions might revamp another renowned horror series – Friday the 13th.
Ryan Turek, producer of The Exorcist: Believer, expressed his sentiments to Inverse, stating that he and Jason Blum share a mutual desire to work on Friday the 13th. He emphasized his longing to return to the fundamentals of the franchise. According to him, a Friday the 13th movie doesn’t need many components; it requires a summer camp setting, campers, and the iconic Jason Voorhees in his mask. Turek, who ranks Halloween as his preferred slasher film, acknowledges its supremacy but expresses profound admiration for the Friday the 13th series as a whole. If given the opportunity to combine both worlds, he added, spending some time at Crystal Lake would be an unparalleled experience.
The project was still in the forefront Jason Blum’s mind back in March of this year:
On being inquired about his next desired franchise resurrection, Jason Blum expressed, “I’d be all about Friday the 13th.” He further added, “Currently, it’s not a Blumhouse project, but I’m making every effort to turn it into one. It’s merely an Intellectual Property that has always captivated me.”
