Superman: David Corenswet Surprises Olympian Stephen Nedoroscik in New Video

As a seasoned gamer with decades of comic book and superhero-themed video games under my belt, I must say that the unfolding saga of the new Superman is nothing short of exhilarating! From Stephen Nederoscik’s Olympic triumph to David Corenswet’s heartfelt message, it feels as if we’re witnessing a real-life crossover event!

2024 Paris Olympic Games saw Stephen Nederoscik, the pommel horse champion, gaining popularity on social media due to his habit of taking off his glasses before competing, a gesture reminiscent of DC’s Clark Kent transforming into Superman. The upcoming Superman, David Corenswet, has also joined in on these comparisons. During an episode of Gold Meets Golden, Corenswet praised Nederoscik for his Olympic performance and jokingly suggested they share a common mission of striving for “truth, justice,” and more. Corenswet will embody the Man of Steel in James Gunn’s Superman movie, set to release in the summer of 2025.

Afternoon greetings! This message is particularly for Stephen Nederoscik. Just like twin spirits in superhero lore, I’m another Clark Kent, applauding you for bringing home a medal for our great nation, and for your unwavering fight for truth, justice, and the essence that empowers fifty ordinary men to stand tall. Keep being extraordinary, my friend. Bravo!

Superman‘s Cast and Crew

According to DC Studios, Superman narrates the tale of how he balances his Kryptonian roots with his human upbringing as Clark Kent from Smallville, Kansas. He personifies truth, justice, and a brighter future, using human compassion to navigate a world that often views kindness as outdated.

In addition to Superman, the cast includes Rachel Brosnahan portraying Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult taking on Lex Luthor, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Wendell Pierce in the role of Perry White, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Terence Rosemore as Otis, Mara Gabriela de Fará as Angela Spica / The Engineer, Isabela Merced playing Kendra Saunders / Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt / Mr. Terrific, Anthony Carrigan depicting Rex Mason / Metamorpho, Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, and Christopher McDonald as Ron Troupe.

The DC Universe Slate

The first chapter of DC Studios’ DC Universe slate will include 2025’s Superman, 2026’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, as well as the currently-undated movies The Brave and the Bold, Swamp Thing, and The Authority. On the television side, the DC Universe will launch an animated Creature Commandos series, the sophomore season of Peacemaker, as well as future shows Waller, Booster Gold, Lanterns, and Paradise Lost. An animated Jurassic League movie and a live-action Teen Titans movie are also reported to be in the works, but neither have been officially confirmed by DC Studios.

In January 2023, Gunn clarified that while many believe it will be similar to Marvel 2.0, he emphasized significant differences. He noted learning much at Marvel but stated they have a more structured approach from the start as they’ve collaborated with multiple writers to fully develop their central story. However, he also pointed out that like Star Wars and Game of Thrones, they are creating a universe with various settings and complex characters.

Superman will be released exclusively in theaters on July 11, 2025.
