As a seasoned Monster Hunter veteran with countless hours slaying beasts across various generations, I can confidently say that the Sword and Shield combo is my go-to weapon of choice. The versatility, power, and sheer fun of this weapon set has always been unmatched in my eyes.
As a seasoned Monster Hunter, I’ve come to appreciate each weapon in the series for its unique strengths, but nothing quite compares to the versatility of the Sword and Shield. In the latest trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds, Capcom showcases some familiar functions of this weapon that never fail to impress me. You can watch it right here.
With its ability to ward off harm and utilize certain items without needing to unsheathe, the Sword and Shield provide a powerful method of inflicting stun damage, thanks to its shield bash combo. The Falling Bash from past games reappears in this one, now triggered with the aid of the Hook Slinger, alongside the Perfect Rush combo introduced in Iceborne. One of the most striking new moves is a reverse grip followed by a downward stab.
2025 is when I’ll get my hands on “Monster Hunter Wilds” for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC! I can’t wait to explore the changes in weapons like the Light Bowgun, Hammer, Long Sword, and Charge Blade. And mark your calendars, a brand-new trailer will be unveiled during Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 20th – let’s hope it gives us a glimpse of exciting updates!
